How the Next James Bond Is Usually Chosen and 10+ Actors Who Are the Top Picks

James Bond was created by British journalist Ian Fleming, back in 1952. More than half a century later, 27 films about the secret agent have been made. Barbara Broccoli, the long-time producer of the 007 franchise, revealed that the role favors younger actors who are not A-listers but who have the potential to evolve into one. After seeing the contenders, we’re sure it’s going to be a difficult decision to make but one thing is for sure — the actor who’ll get the job will have his life changed forever.

The first James Bond was brought to our screens through Sean Connery (1962–1967, 1971, 1983), followed by David Niven (1967), George Lazenby (1969), Roger Moore (1973–1985), Timothy Dalton (1987–1989), and Pierce Brosnan (1995–2002). Daniel Craig has played the character for the longest time — for 15 years, from 2006 to 2021 and he’s now ready to hang up his hat and make way for the new 007.

According to the producers, the new Bond — James Bond actor has to be a male, over 5’10″ (177.80 cm) in height, has to be British, under 40 years of age, and most importantly, has to be ready for a 10-12 year commitment to the memorable role.
