What the Cast of “Forrest Gump” Looks Like 29 Years After the Premiere

This comedy-drama by Robert Zemeckis was released in 1994. The movie is an adaptation of the 1986 novel by Winston Groom. The story of Forrest, whose life takes place in some of the most important moments of US history in the second half of the twentieth century, is loved by both viewers and critics. And the movie itself got 29 awards around the world, including 6 Oscars and 61 nominations.
In 2023, the movie is turning 29 years old, and we wanted to find out how much the actors that played the main and supporting roles have changed. We were also surprised to find out that Tom Hanks’ daughter was also in the movie.
Tom Hanks — Forrest Gump
Before working with Robert Zemeckis, Tom Hanks was already a successful actor, as he had starred in Big (1998), Turner & Hooch (1989), and Philadelphia (1993), which he even won an Oscar for. But it was Forrest Gump that made Hanks truly loved around the world. His career started to develop very quickly after this movie, and he continued on to play many iconic roles in films such as The Green Mile (1999), The Terminal (2004), and The Da Vinci Code (2006).
- In July 2022, the actor turned 66.
Michael Conner Humphreys — Forrest Gump in childhood
Michael Conner Humphreys portrayed a young Forrest. After the movie, the boy didn’t star in any films, as he only took part in school plays. But in 2011, he played Eddie in Pathfinders: In the Company of Strangers. Humphreys also worked as a guard for a Vancouver transportation company. And since 2020, he’s been an online tutor.
- On March 1, 2022, he turned 37.
Sally Field — Mrs. Gump
Sally Field has been acting since 1965. Several roles have earned her 3 Emmy Awards and 2 Oscars. She got her first Oscar for the main role in Norma Rae (1979), and the second one for Places in the Heart (1984). But most people recognize her from Mrs. Doubtfire (1993), Forrest Gump (1994), and The Amazing Spider-Man (2012), in which she played Aunt May.
- On November 6, 2022, the actress celebrated her 76th birthday.
Hanna R. Hall — Jenny Curran in childhood
Robin Wright — Jenny Curran

Robin Wright played Forrest’s friend, whom he falls in love with as a child and continues to pine for throughout his entire life. Before this film, Wright was already a TV and movie star. She was in Santa Barbara and portrayed Kelly Capwell.
After Forrest Gump, the actress appeared in more than 40 famous movies, like Unbreakable (2000), Beowulf (2007), The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011), and others. One of her most recent projects was Wonder Woman (2017) and its 2020 sequel.
- On April 8, 2022, the actress turned 56.
Gary Sinise — Lieutenant Dan Taylor
Forrest Gump made Gary Sinise a huge star, even though he had already scored some roles in movies and on TV. He’s acted in dozens of projects and won Emmy, Golden Globe, and Tony Awards. Aside from that, he has received many awards for his humanitarian and charity work.
- On March 17, 2022, the actor turned 67.
Mykelti Williamson — Benjamin Buford Blue (Bubba)
Even before Forrest Gump, the actor had been in many famous projects, but the role of Bubba got him to a whole new level. Heat (1995), Con Air (1997), and The Final Destination (2009) are just a few examples of what he’s worked on over the years.
It’s also worth noting that throughout filming, Williamson wore a lip attachment to create Bubba’s protruding lip.
- On March 4, 2022, the actor turned 65 years old.
Sam Anderson — Principal Hancock
Haley Joel Osment — Forrest Gump Jr.
Forrest Gump was the first film in Haley Joel Osment’s career. Osment was cast in the film after the casting director noticed him in a Pizza Hut commercial. The most popular project Osment did as a child was probably The Sixth Sense (1999). For his amazing portrayal of the boy that could see dead people, he was nominated for an Oscar. He is still an actor today.
- On April 10, 2022, he turned 34.
Siobhan Fallon — Dorothy Harris, school bus driver
Siobhan Fallon played the school bus driver that took Forrest to school, and then years later, his son. The actress has been on TV and in movies since 1989. She’s been in Men in Black (1997), The Negotiator (1998), Dogville (2003), New in Town (2009) and others.
