12 Celebrities Explain How They Stay in Great Shape After 40

After the age of 40, our hormones change and cause our metabolism to decrease. This makes it more difficult to stay fit and healthy as we age. But these celebrities have shared their favorite ways to work out, along with some diet tips.
Bright Side is excited to share the way these celebrities keep healthy and fit.
1. Eva Longoria (47)
Eva Longoria likes to do a workout every day. In an interview, she said she likes to do a trampoline workout since it’s low impact and not too harsh on her knees. It also helps with lymphatic drainage, she said. She uses the trampoline for 30 to 45 minutes a day, then she’ll do some weight training.
2. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson (49)
The Rock doesn’t hide how hard he works to maintain his action star physique. He often shares posts on social media. Dwayne Johnson does split training. He works on different muscle groups on different days.
On Mondays, he focuses on the back and biceps. Midweek, he’ll work out his shoulders. Thursdays, he’ll go back to his back and biceps. Fridays are chest and tricep days, and Saturdays are leg days. He has Sundays as a rest day, when he often posts his cheat meals.
3. Jennifer Lopez (52)
Jennifer Lopez is meticulous when it comes to her fitness and health. She prioritizes her health and puts it first. This is related to all aspects, including food, sleep, and physical exercise. She said that working out makes her feel happy. She’s always danced but also does weight exercises, such as platypus walks, sumo squats, lunges, and pilates.
4. Hilary Swank (47)
When Hilary Swank was training for her role in Million Dollar Baby, she would work out for 5 hours a day, and she even put on 23 pounds of muscle. Now she enjoys working out for fun and likes to do resistance training. Swank says it is one of the best ways to stay flexible and keep calcium in our bones.
5. Jason Statham (54)
Statham uses rings as part of his workout. He said in an interview that there are lots of benefits, such as shoulder mobility and usable strength. He liked using rings because there are always new skills to learn with them, which makes things more interesting. The actor used to do routine workouts, but now likes to adapt his workouts depending on how he feels.
6. Halle Berry (55)
Halle Berry used to be a gymnast growing up. At the age of 22, she was diagnosed with diabetes and said it became critical for her to manage her diet and exercise. She does lots of different workouts, from strength training and martial arts to yoga.

Gabrielle Union does three 50-minute workouts each week, spending most of the time doing full-body strength training. She does 6 minutes of cardio each workout session in the form of 3 sets of 2-minute intervals. She said she likes to mix it up, so she doesn’t get anxious staring at the treadmill. Union likes to do things like jumping jacks, running, side shuffles, the elliptical, the treadmill, or sled pushes.
9. Kevin Hart (42)
Kevin Hart has co-starred in movies with The Rock and Mark Wahlberg, but says he prefers to work out alone. His co-stars have different schedules and are on different wavelengths. He doesn’t want to work out with others for fear of trying to impress others and hurting himself. Hart isn’t trying to copy anyone else’s workouts, and prefers doing what is best for himself.
10. Jennifer Aniston (53)
The Friends actor said her mom was a health fanatic when she was growing up, so she rebelled when she moved out by eating lots of unhealthy food. But she started to feel awful and became mindful of what she was eating.
She has a wellness morning routine which includes walks and the feeding of her dogs. She also meditates, makes some coffee, and journals. Then she will get her phone out. If she only has 5 minutes, she’ll jump rope, which she says is a killer workout.
11. Hugh Jackman (53)
Hugh Jackman likes to go to the gym in the mornings, not only for his physical well-being, but for his mental state of mind. After turning 40, he said he has to be a little more disciplined, and you don’t get away with errors anymore. He also likes rowing as an exercise. Jackman said that if you do rowing and add some chest exercises and push-ups, that’s all you need to stay lean and healthy.

Kate Hudson has the philosophy that wellness is about your quality of life. She said it’s about doing things you love. You can just take a nice walk and still be healthy.
Hudson likes to do intermittent fasting and says it’s not for everyone, but for her, it helps maintain her energy levels. She likes to do a variety of workouts, such as walking, bike riding, and pilates. She’ll eat healthy foods all day and then have ice cream, which makes her happy.
