Demi Moore and Bruce Willis Have Managed to Stay Close After Their Divorce, and Here’s How They Did It

It may sound easy to save a good relationship after a divorce, but it’s not. And former Hollywood couple Demi Moore and Bruce Willis is a perfect example of how coping with negative emotions and managing anger can be crucial for your future and happiness.
We at Bright Side always feel a thrill when we see people maintaining healthy, mindful relationships and would like to share one of such stories.
Bruce was a real prince for Demi.
Demi was dating Emilio Estevez, but in 1986, they called off their engagement and broke up. Still, the ex-couple remained friends and even attended a movie premiere together. It became one of the most important days for Demi: “A highly consequential night in my life because at that premiere, I met an actor who was very hot at the time, on a hit series called Moonlighting. His name was Bruce Willis.”
Bruce behaved like a real gentleman, visited her family, and got access to her past. “When Bruce and I got together, our traumas met. Like me, Bruce had had a difficult childhood: he was a stutterer, which had the positive side effect of getting him into acting,” explained Demi.
And just like that, in 1987, they tied the knot in Las Vegas like in the best Hollywood movies because they were in love and had so many things in common.
The fairy tale ended after their first child.
Each couple faces problems, and the same happened to Demi and Bruce. The fairy tale finished after they had their first baby, and Demi decided to return to acting while Bruce wanted her to be home. But that time the couple passed the test and they made their relationship work.
Bruce “didn’t want to be the guy who walked out on his family,” but Demi still felt some infidelity. The situation changed with a second pregnancy, and that kept them together. Then the third child made the relationship stronger until Demi found out that her mother was dying. The couple made the decision to quit.
After the divorce, Bruce Willis confessed that he hadn’t figured out what went wrong, saying, “I still love Demi. We’re very close. We have 3 children whom we will continue to raise together, and we’re probably as close now as we ever were. We realize we have a lifelong commitment to our kids. Our friendship continues. The institution has been set aside.”
Bruce is still always there for Demi.
They never had to split up vacations or birthdays. All family events were spent together. And the ex-couple supported one another in their new romantic relationships. Demi noticed in her memories that they started to feel even more united after their divorce: “It’s a funny thing to say, but I’m very proud of our divorce.”
Bruce was always there for Demi and continues to be, which is one of the most important secrets to their relationship.
