Courteney Cox’s enduring impact was immortalized in Los Angeles where she was just given the 2,750th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Former co-stars Jennifer Aniston and Lisa Kudrow shared a mixture of laughter and tears as they reflected on their 30-year friendship with Courteney Cox. “We’re honored to be here today to speak on your behalf as your co-workers, your friends, and your family, your sisters,” Aniston said as she began the duo’s speech.

“It’s been that way since we met almost 30 years ago,” Kudrow added, with Aniston playfully correcting her, adding, “No, not 30 years ago. That’s a typo.” The audience erupted in laughter before Aniston continued. “To be friends with Courteney is to be family with Courteney. She’s the one who’s responsible for all of that.” Aniston also shared that from the moment they met her, she had been immediately inclusive, warm, loving, and interested in everything about them.

The duo also shared a story about their first encounter with Cox, playfully jesting that she was the most well-known member of the Friends cast. They also recalled how they used to engage in poker games on set as a means of building connections. “She hated poker. Like, loathed it from the bottom of her heart. But she played with us ’cause she wanted to bond with us,” Aniston quipped.

Kudrow also recalled how in the early days of Friends Cox would encourage the cast to take care of each other. “She instilled into all of us, into our DNA, to support each other and to love one another,” Aniston added. Kudrow also stated that it was Cox’s suggestion that allowed the Friends co-stars “to become one of the closest, most loving and supportive casts in the history of television.”

As expected, waterworks ensued toward the end of the speech as Aniston and Kudrow expressed more emotional sentiments to their friend.

Kudrow shared that they were deeply proud to know Cox and added that she was the definition of a “truly beautiful, talented, and decent human being.” She also thanked her for enriching their lives personally, while Aniston admitted that Cox was one of “the funniest human beings on the planet Earth” and thanked her for always making them smile. She also expressed her gratitude for the star’s work, adding, “We are so proud of you, you’re a sister from another mister and we love you.”

Upon hearing the tributes, Cox thanked Aniston, Kudrow, and Laura Dern, who also spoke at the event, for their support over the years. “I love you all so much and it’s so nice that you came out and showed up for me in public the way you do so often in private,” she said. She also acknowledged the many people in her professional career who helped her along the way, her parents, and her daughter, Coco, who was also present at the ceremony.

After receiving her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Cox stated that her Friends co-stars are “wonderful friends” of hers and “are family” to her. And later, in an interview, the star shared that she felt good about the honor and it meant a lot to her that she “knew every single person” at the ceremony.
