10 Best Camping Tents 2022
Camping can provide you with great physical and mental health. This is because it gives you opportunities to build relationships, lowers stress, and helps in developing new skills. But most of all, to stay away from phones and TVs and connect with mother nature.
However, in order to have a relaxed and carefree camping experience, you’ll need a tent that will provide you with safety and comfort. It’s also important to know what accessories can contribute to an unforgettable camping experience. So don’t forget to check out our bonus section.
How to choose the right tent for you.
While we went the extra mile to find the camping tents that were most praised by customers on Amazon, we also want you to know what to consider when getting one. Not all tents have the same qualities, and it’s important to understand what you need at the moment, and these tips will help.
- Height — There are 2 types of tents that you should know about. Cabin-style tents are those that have almost vertical walls, which ensures open space and a high peak. On the other hand, dome-style tents offer better protection from wind because the walls have slopes while the highest peak is in the center, but offer less space.
- Floor — If you are tall, and/or you want a tent that will provide you with comfort, look for tents with 90 inches long floors.
- Doors — This will depend on how many people you plan to go camping with. If you want to go with more people, then go for a tent that has more doors, so that you won’t need to jump over others to get out of the tent, like cabin-style tents. Also, keep in mind that the zippers are good quality and not nosy when opened, as you’ll be opening them many times during your camping trip.
- Rainfly — This is great for extra protection from weather conditions. However, there are 2 types: roof-only, which provides fair protection against rain, while full coverage will protect you from the wind as well.
- Ventilation — Tents have mesh panels on doors, ceilings, and windows that help with ventilation. If you are preparing for a trip to hot and humid climates, find a tent with larger mesh panels.
- Interior storage and loops — It’s nice to have loops inside the tent to hang up your things, especially in the center for lanterns. Also, inside pockets are great to keep your stuff in and to keep your tent clean and organized.

- Pleasantly surprised with this camping tent. Great value. — This was my first tent (and camping experience) and it went better than expected. The camping tent was very easy to assemble, and the instructions are stitched into the packing bag, so you never lose them (although after the first time assembling it you pretty much know how to do it again without the instructions).
The space was perfect for our family of four, two adults and two kids. We had to install the rain cover because it was starting to rain, and the camping tent protected us from water. It was pretty windy out, but the tent was solid.
I liked that it had ventilation from two sides, so the air could flow across the inside of the tent, keeping the air inside fresh. A nice surprise was the little see-through pouch hanging from the inside of the tent, which I assumed was for shoes, but we used it to put our cell phones in.
All in all, I would recommend this tent. — Johnny Simon

- Great roomy tent — Awesome tent. I read some reviews and took a punt. The installation took literally minutes to get up, including guide ropes. Pegs were provided. Great carry case for when you de-install. The only thing I would recommend is a spray sealant. We had one night testing it and there were a few minimal droplets from the ceiling seams. I just sprayed the whole tent with waterproofing sealant, and one can was more than enough.
The second night it was completely waterproof. We had a bit of a storm the second night and the tent stayed dry, and the rigidity was sound too. Worth the investment, if you spend a little time and effort sealing it. Definitely recommend. — Mr. Jake A. Long

- Highly recommended — Absolutely great and adequate product to description and price. Have not used the tent yet, but it looks really good. Very happy so far. Thanks. — Pawel M
- Held up well at a waterlogged festival — Used it at a festival where it was pouring rain for days. Many people’s tents flooded, but mine stayed dry. By the end of the third night, the creases where the tent wall met the floor were slightly damp, but not sure if that was condensation or not. It wasn’t really an issue though because it wasn’t touching anything. Overall, would recommend a relatively cheap water-resistant tent.
Its size is more suited for one person rather than two people, however. Having two people in the tent as well as all your bags would be quite cramped. One person was grand. — Patrick Smyth

- 2 in 1 — Great tent, so easy to put up, no faffing with poles, etc. had it up and converted into the sun shade in less than 5 mins and then another 5 mins to put it back down again. I’m not an expert at folding tents, so the end picture isn’t quite as neat as the beginning one, but it still fits in the bag!
Definitely recommend it to my friends and family, and can’t wait for our first camping trip this year to test it out properly! But for this brief sunny spell, it will be used to keep the kids in the shade in the garden, great piece of kit. — Renia

- Surprise bargain, the best — It’s not often something that’s ‘good value’ lives up to expectations, but this Coleman Darwin has easily exceeded mine. I could not believe how tiny the tent was when it arrived. Our reason for buying this little tent was for use as a pup tent next to our motorhome, and for this, it is absolutely ideal.
Update: We’ve just returned from a two-week holiday in Devon, using this tent as sleeping accommodation for my adult son and his fiancé. We had every type of weather from hot and sunny to very wet and windy and this little tent performed flawlessly throughout. No leaks, no faults, and no complaints at all from the guys using it. Very happy indeed. — waldey

- Waterproof: Yes
- Windproof: Yes
- Storage: 2 pockets
Cons:
- The bottom tent cover might tear sooner than expected
- Might arrive faulty
Promising review:
- It’s definitely waterproof — I’ve used this tent twice. The first time the weather was beautiful, and it was extremely cool when you open the windows. It got a bit cold during the night. The second time was at the lakes, and it rained nonstop, it handled the wind well and didn’t let any water in at all, just make sure your rain cover isn’t touching the actual tent, and it should be fine.
It won’t do you much good outside of late spring/ summer, but if you’re on a family trip over the warmer months, it’s the perfect tent. There’s plenty of space inside for a double air bed and some chairs. If you’re all using sleeping mats, you might get 8 in, but it would be tight. I’d also get a warmer sleeping bag in case it does get a bit chilly during the night and if it’s too warm, use it as a blanket.
Assembly is easy enough, although extremely awkward to do alone as it needs balancing, and you have to be careful otherwise you’ll bend the poles. If there are two of you, you should have it up in about 25 minutes.
Overall ideal summer family tent. — A

- Small and compact
- Made of water-resistant material

Cons:
- The light it’s a bit dim (200 lumens)
- Charges a phone slower than expected
Promising review:
- The best power bank and a flashlight — An old lantern-style flashlight, ideal for use in camping and tents. It emits a mild light, not disturbing, and the flashlight is also ok. There’s a crank to charge the device manually, or solar cells at the top, you can also charge it with a standard micro USB port.
On the other side, the power bank charges your phone normally, it’s not fast charging, so it should be ok for any device, It’s lightweight, but I have not tried waterproofing, it might survive it, but I couldn’t take the risk. I really like it because it’s handy. Overall happy, fast delivery too. — alan

Power drops with cloudy weather, but can still charge enough to keep you going. The pocket is handy for storing cables and smaller power banks. My only complaint would be the legs, which are not worth using if there is any sign of any gentle breeze. — lhshark

5. Practical tarp for camping and traveling. It will give you great shade on sunny days and keep you dry when it rains. It’s also easy to set up and can be even installed over tents for extra protection.
Pros:
- Wind and rainproof
- Hooks and ropes included
- Excellent UV resistance
Cons:
- Overlapped stitching
- Limited configurations (not many tie-down points available)
Promising review:
- Absolutely worth it — I love this tarp. It’s big, brilliant value, and the included lines and pegs are actually pretty good (for that money I’d expected to end up binning them, to be honest). To call it a tarp sells it short; it’s not a rough woven plastic sheet, it’s a tough water-resistant sheet. Seams are tough, maybe a little light through the stitching under tension, but nothing too bad.
The only downside is the brass eyelets are pretty shonky. Fine for most things, but very careful using them on poles where they’d fit snugly over the end. 3 fell off the first time I used it, although I was able to bodge them back on. Still worth the money, though. I added 6 poles to build a canopy. — Chris Clark
