Everyone has a different fate, and sometimes childhood can be less than perfect. About 60 million children live on the streets, and it’s an important step of kindness when kids get a chance to have a real family, and it doesn’t matter if you have the same blood.

We at Bright Side wish each kid to have a family and are sharing 10 examples of celebrities that prove adoption is important in changing people’s lives for the better.

1. Steve Jobs

Steve Jobs’ native cousin claimed that Jobs’ birth name was actually Abdul Lateef Jandali. Schieble was the biological mother of the future genius. She gave birth to Jobs and chose an adoptive couple that later changed their minds and the baby was placed with Paul and Clara Jobs, a simple family who managed to pay for the boy’s college education.

2. Marilyn Monroe

The name of Marilyn Monroe’s mother was Gladys, and it’s assumed that mentally and financially she wasn’t prepared for a child. Despite this, Monroe’s early childhood was stable enough. Later, Gladys placed her daughter with foster parents Albert and Ida Bolender for the girl’s first 6 months, and then she was forced to move back for work.

3. Jack Nicholson

For nearly 4 decades, Jack Nicholson believed that his mother, June, was his sister. June was only 18 when Jack was born. To avoid the shame, Ethel May raised Nicholson as her own son.

4. Nicole Richie

Nicole Richie was adopted when she was 9 years old by Brenda Harvey. Harvey was married to Lionel Richie, so this is how Nicole got her surname. Soon the spouses divorced because of Richie’s cheating.

5. Jamie Foxx

Jamie Foxx remembers his childhood as unstable and painful. He says he was adopted by his grandparents because his mother wasn’t responsible enough to be a good parent. His father also wasn’t present consistently, but none of it caused Foxx to become a bad person, and he managed to be a good father on his own.

6. Frances McDormand

McDormand was adopted at one and a half years by Noreen and Vernon McDormand. Her adoptive parents were a nurse and a pastor. Both had no biological children.

7. Keegan-Michael Key

He was adopted at a young age by a couple from Detroit, who were both social workers. Key confessed: “I think people who are adopted have this kind of situation where you go, ’I’m going to do everything everybody else tells me because I don’t want to get abandoned again.’ I think that happens to people.”

8. Ray Liotta

Liotta knew he was adopted as a young child. He was abandoned at an orphanage and then at the age of 6 months, a township clerk, Mary, and an auto-parts store owner, Alfred Liotta, found him.
Liotta also has a sister who was adopted as well.

9. Ice T

After his father’s heart attack, the 12-year-old Marrow who later took on the nickname, Ice T, was fostered by his aunt. Then he was sent to live with another aunt in South Los Angeles.

10. John Lennon

John Lennon was raised by his aunt, Mimi. She adopted him from his mother, Julia Lennon. His aunt was a strict role model for the young Lennon.
