  • Worked and lived in New Orleans. My in-laws were in a wreck in Raleigh, NC. After six weeks of hospitalization they needed further recovery at our house.
    The CEO let us use the company jet to fly up to Raleigh to pick them up and bring them home. We all felt like rockstars.

SOMETIMES, PEOPLE WITH "PLENTY" OF MONEY, DON'T SHOW IT OFF, THEN GET "CALLED OUT" BY SOMEONE THAT WANTS THE "RICH" PERSON TO PAY. IF THEY ACT LIKE THEY HAVE MONEY, THEY GET CALLED OUT FOR BEING "SNOBBY". "RICH" IS SUBJECTIVE, WEALTHY IS SOMETHING ELSE.

  • Had a boss who was genuinely really good at getting people involved and socializing, even us quiet people. He would come and say hello and shake my hand every morning even though he had like 200 people reporting to him. He remembered to invite everyone to outings and events. Not all at the same time, he’d get like 10 together at a time, but everyone got their time.
    He’s a good dude. An extrovert who appreciates and understands his introverts. Gave us our space when we needed it too.
  • Not sure if it was my employer or my whole managerial team, but I got 3 weeks off no questions asked, when I lost my house. Gave me time to get back on my feet and get settled in the next steps of my journey. Offered 2 weeks of free hotel stays to use at my discretion.
    Activated the cie’s emergency fund and gave me $2K towards our GoFundMe. My whole team donated so much $$ to our GoFundMe and I got $1000 in doordash gift cards. I’ve never felt more supported.

    Four months later, I was getting ready for my first major solo client presentation. I mentioned it when we caught up on the call. Told her how nervous I was. Mostly expecting her to just wish me luck.

  • One of my coworkers was always helping people. Never asked for credit or anything. She trained new employees, stayed late to help someone finish something, and jumped in when another person was overwhelmed. None of it was really recorded anywhere.
    Before the performance review season, another colleague noticed this and started keeping track. Then sent everything to our manager as part of the review process. The coworker had no idea anyone was doing this.
    When her review came around, all that work was finally visible and she finally got the praise and raise she deserved. It was very sweet.

  • When my first wife was in the hospital for ~3 weeks my boss let me “work remotely” for that time so I didn’t have to burn all my PTO. He knew very well that I wasn’t going to do any work, but that fiction let me take time off later in the year when I needed to.

It's very nice to see that there is still compassion in the world. There's so much self-centeredness these days that it's refreshing to hear about people that are able to notice when someone truly needs help, and offers it to them.

  • I left the company two years ago. Hadn’t spoken to my old manager in months. Then she suddenly called me and caught me off guard.
    She said she was thinking about a project we worked on together and realized it was the anniversary. She wanted to know how I was doing and just catch up. That’s all.
    She remembered the date even though there was no reason for her to. Made me feel so loved.

  • A couple years ago my old car stranded me on the highway when I was on my way to work. My boss called me after he heard from our top boss & I told him what happened. He offered to come get me so I wouldn’t miss work. I told him that I’m waiting on the tow truck & that I’d see him tomorrow morning if he or my operator could pick me up.
    Both guys picked me up & brought me home for 2 weeks until my car was fixed. I worked w/ some great people there.
  • My coworker returned after having a baby girl. I crocheted a doll for her. Took me a week.
    When I gave it to her, she made an odd face and just kept it in her bag. Said nothing. It was awkward so I also just went back to work.
    At lunch I overheard a colleague asking her about it. My heart sank when she replied, “It’s not the best looking but it looks exactly like the doll my grandma once made me. I am so lost for words. I don’t know how to react. It’s precious.”
    I thought she didn’t like it. Turns out she was just overwhelmed. I pretended to not know anything and went back to my desk.
    2 days later she came to me and said, “Thank you, seriously. You have no idea how much the doll means to me and my daughter.” I just smiled and hugged her back.

After a month trying to get a new job I landed my dream job but didn't expect the people to be so thoughtful it was late winter and my boss noticed I wore a jacket and through the holes in my shoes saw i had no socks on so he and the other director got together one day and when I got to work there was a brand new coat in the pockets were new socks then my manager came in with a new big drinking cup and then she bought me new shoes these people are truly amazing
