Wonder where the dad had to use the womans toilets to change his child. Here in the UK you have a baby changing separate toilet where all public bathrooms are. Separate completely with its own toilet and baba changer. loo
A Dad Got Screamed At for Using the Women’s Restroom to Change His Baby’s Diaper
We all know that taking care of a toddler’s needs is not easy, kids do what they gotta do at the most unexpected moments. One of the Bright Side readers found himself in the same situation at an unusual location. Because of the lack of a family bathroom, he was forced to enter the women’s room to change his son’s diaper.
Hey David! Thanks for your message! Your story is an exceptional one, so here at Bright Side we got together to chat about it, and here’s what we think.
We can imagine the embarrassment you felt when the lady walked in on you, but there’s nothing to be ashamed of. Actually, what you did is something to be proud of, you prioritized your duties as a dad despite the embarrassment of the situation. We totally agree with your wife’s opinion about the matter. You did what the situation dictated, and there’s nothing wrong with that.
- Instead of getting worked up about what happened to you, try to let it slide. Nothing serious happened, the ladies were probably just surprised to find a man in the women’s restroom, and they shouted all those things out of momentary anger, without really thinking about the situation.
- Keep in mind that you don’t necessarily need a changing table to get the work done, any flat surface will do. If, next time, you find yourself in the same situation, try to avoid using places where only women are allowed, rather go and look for a more private place and find a flat surface where you can change your child’s diaper in peace without any interruption.
- A recent study shows that more and more men are home taking care of children than ever before, so the number of stay-at-home dads is rising. That’s why we think that every public place, from big stores to restaurants, should have a dedicated place for parents, regardless of gender. You acted correctly in your situation. The child’s needs should always come first.
How do you think this situation should’ve been handled? Do you think men’s restrooms should have changing tables?
