Anya Taylor-Joy Marries for the Second Time and Wears Absolutely Unconventional Wedding Dress

Anya Taylor-Joy, renowned for her role in The Queen’s Gambit, exchanged vows with musician Malcolm McRae in a grand ceremony that took place in Venice over the weekend. The ceremony happened one year after reports of their engagement surfaced.

This was their second wedding.

Anya Taylor-Joy and Malcolm McRae hosted a star-studded guest list to witness their second wedding ceremony in Italy. The 27-year-old actress and the 29-year-old musician had a simple courthouse wedding last summer. However, they decided to celebrate their nuptials with more than 150 of their closest friends and family.

Anya wore an unconventional beige princess-style dress adorned with intricate embroidery and embellishments, featuring images of birds and flowers on the bodice. Additionally, she had a bright white veil.

The couple kept their relationship private for a long time.

They have maintained a mostly private romance and have chosen not to discuss their relationship publicly. However, in March 2022, Taylor-Joy spoke about McRae in an interview. She explained that their relationship is based on their similar personalities and shared passions.

“I’ve finally found someone who will happily sit in silence with me reading,” she mentioned. “We’re basically 80 years old and seven at the same time, and it works really well.”

Before meeting her husband Anya had a terrible breakup.

Last year, Taylor-Joy revealed that she had experienced a “devastating breakup”. She mentioned that this breakup had influenced her in a wrong way, saying that it made her “incredibly insecure and very, very unsafe in my own skin.”

Luckily soon she met her future husband for the first time at the premiere of The Queen’s Gambit in 2021. McRae, an actor in his own right and a member of the band, took to Instagram last year to share that he had composed an original song for Taylor-Joy titled “Really Want to See You Again,” just two days after meeting the British actress.

“I’ve gotta get this out,” McRae sings in the song. “I think we’re alike in ways that I can’t quite explain.”

The Queen’s Gambit, the Netflix hit series, almost had a very different origin. In 2008, Heath Ledger, known for his iconic role as the Joker, intended to direct the adaptation of the novel but tragically couldn’t. He considered casting Elliot Page for the lead role. Eventually, the role of Beth Harmon went to the talented Anya Taylor-Joy, who has captivated audiences with her performance.
