Keanu Reeves’ Band Is Back Together 20 Years Later, and They’re About to Release New Music

Despite a successful and busy acting career that’s still going strong, Keanu Reeves is returning to his rockstar life with his band, Dogstar. The alternative rock group reunited last year, but the announcement of new music only came recently. And the videos of the Hollywood veteran making music are already doing wonders for fans online.

A new chapter for the band

In July 2022, Dogstar posted their first photo on Instagram where they announced they were reuniting. Now, months later, the band finally confirmed the release of new music as they shared a sneak peek into an upcoming photo shoot. “Exciting news coming soon. Thanks for being so patient,” the caption read.

In the comment section, they seemed overwhelmed with the positive reception of the news by fans. “Thank you everyone for the kind comments. We are overjoyed to see such a response! Honestly, didn’t expect this. It makes us want to play out even more,” they added.

But they didn’t stop there. Besides expressing gratitude to those showing support for the reunion, the group also shared in more detail what the public can expect from them soon.

“We will be rolling out some new music this summer followed by some gigs. As soon as it’s all figured out we will let everyone know immediately. So much to do, but rest assured, we are on it and have assembled a fantastic team that is helping us,” they explained. “We are also going to make a music video to support our first tune. Can’t wait to share our new music with everyone. It’s the most satisfying and meaningful batch of songs we’ve ever done.”

The group has been broken up since 2002.

Dogstar was born from a random encounter in a supermarket in 1991 between Reeves and fellow actor and musician Robert Mailhouse, which eventually led to them jamming together. By 1996, the group had grown after Reeves (bass) and Mailhouse (drums) were joined by Bret Domrose as an additional vocalist and guitarist, and they released their first EP, Quattro Formaggi.

In October 2002, the band made their final performance in Japan before calling it quits with no return in sight, which explains how much this comeback news came as a surprise to fans of the band and the beloved actor.
