16 Parenting Tips for Child Safety in Everyday Life

Seeing your child grow up means you can start giving them more freedom so they can become independent. The problem is when they take their first steps and get really close to the stairs or start grabbing furniture that may tip over. Now every little corner in the house has turned into a potential threat but there’s no need to panic, we’ve got your back!

At Bright Side, we have prepared a list of simple hacks you can put into practice with just what you’ve got around in your house. Don’t throw anything away since you might need it!

1. Try using clothespins to prevent toothbrushes from touching dirty surfaces when you’re traveling.

2. Place a rolled towel or pool noodle under a fitted sheet so your kid doesn’t fall off the bed.

3. The pool noodle can also be used to baby-proof sharp corners or glass surfaces.

4. Get rid of germs from toys by washing them in the dishwasher.

5. Teach your children to safely go down the stairs on their bellies.

6. Draw a chart on the medicine bottle to keep track of the dosages left to take.

7. Put tape over electrical outlets that are within your child’s reach.

8. Use non-slip rug pads or double-sided tape to stop your child from tripping on a rug.

9. Try role-playing to teach them how to make a call in case of an emergency.

10. Always check the temperature of the water before giving your child a bath. Use your elbow, not your hand, to check the temperature.

11. Place colorful stickers on glass doors at eye level.

12. Keep a spray bottle with cold water in the car during the summer season for the scorching hot seatbelt buckles.

13. Make non-slip socks with puffy paint.

14. Have your kids wear matching or bright colors when going out so you’ll immediately spot them.

15. Get anti-tip straps to secure your furniture.

16. Cut a pool noodle in half to cover the handle of a shopping cart to make it germ-free and to avoid any bumps.

Which one would you like to try? Remember that we love it when you also share practical tips with us that will keep our children safe.
