Some may feel that we already know everything about our favorite celebrities, especially now in the age of social media. But there is always room for little-known facts that leave us surprised and even make us look at a star in a different light. We prepared a compilation of some mind-blowing fun facts that we had no idea about before.

1. Halle Berry was named after a store.

She was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and the department store Halle Brothers was one of the landmarks there. Her parents must’ve really liked that store because they named her after it.

2. Google Image Search was invented because of Jennifer Lopez.

In 2000, there was no way to see the images that came up on Google in one place. But Jennifer Lopez’s appearance at the Grammy’s that year changed this, as tons of people wanted to see her outfit but couldn’t find relevant results. Because of this, Google engineers came up with this search option.

3. Rebel Wilson pursued acting because of a hallucination.

Rebel Wilson was originally set to become a lawyer, but she decided to take a gap year during her studies and went to Africa. There, she caught malaria and hallucinated that she was an actress. She liked that vision so much that she decided to change her career path, although she did graduate from law school.

4. Justin Timberlake’s mom is Ryan Gosling was legal guardian.

Ryan Gosling and Justin Timberlake were child actors and co-stars on The Mickey Mouse Club. After a while, Gosling’s mom had to return back to Canada for work-related reasons, so Timberlake’s mom stepped in and became Gosling’s legal guardian, so he could keep working on the show.

5. Daniel Radcliffe shared a story about how he found out he got the role of Harry Potter.

The celebration about the news of booking the Harry Potter part was not very exciting, as it turns out. The actor found out he got the role while he was in the bath. And as a reward, he was allowed to stay up for half an hour longer and watch Fawlty Towers on TV.

6. Britney Spears used to be in an all-girls group before going solo.

The group was called Innosense, and it was supposed to be an American version of the Spice Girls. The group was active from 1997 to 2003. Nikki DeLoach, who is now an actress known for MTV’s Awkward, was also a part of it.

7. Jake Gyllenhaal’s godmother is Jamie Lee Curtis.

Jamie Lee Curtis was close to Jake Gyllenhaal’s parents and has known the actor his entire life. That’s how she got the title of his godmother. Another interesting fact is that Gyllenhaal himself is the godfather to Heath Ledger’s daughter.

8. Stephen Baldwin has a Hannah Montana tattoo.

His kids were big fans of the show Hannah Montana, so he wanted to guest star on it. The show’s star, Miley Cyrus, who was 15 at the time, dared him to get a tattoo with Hannah Montana’s initials in exchange for the guest starring role. So Stephen Baldwin did that, however, he never got to guest star after all.

9. Hugh Jackman used to be a gym teacher.

Before he found fame, he was just Mr. Jackman, a gym teacher at a high school. He once ran into a reporter, Rollo Ross, and informed him that he was actually his teacher. Jackman joked that he was curious about how Ross’s physical education was going.

10. Simon Cowell polished the props for The Shining.

He is now best known for being a judge on the talent show, The X-Factor, but he started his career by polishing Jack Nicholson’s prop axe for the thriller, The Shining. Cowell’s half-brother said that the talent judge was “very proud” of how shiny he made the props look between the takes of the movie.

11. Christina Applegate left Brad Pitt mid-date.

Christina Applegate revealed that back before Brad Pitt was internationally famous, the 2 of them dated, but she left him during the MTV Video Music Awards night to be with another guy. She said that she regretted that decision to this day. While the actress never confirmed who the mystery guy was, other than that he was “known to the public,” Gilmore Girls’ Sebastian Bach claimed that she was talking about him.
