We’ve gotten used to seeing celebrities complement their red carpet looks with dazzling necklaces, but not many of them dare to wear those necklaces backward. There’s even the term “backlace” that is sometimes used to describe this type of jewelry. From Princess Diana, who turned heads when she appeared at a movie premiere wearing a string of pearls on her back, to modern celebrities who like trying something new, we reminisced about 15 times we saw famous women wearing jewelry on their gorgeous backs. Make sure you don’t miss a little bonus at the end, where we share a few tips on how you can wear a backlace and look stunning.

Bonus: A few tips on how to rock a “backlace” like a superstar:

  • It’s better to put your hair up in a ponytail or an updo. After all, you don’t want your “backlace” to be hidden under your hair, right?
  • The backward necklace would look best with a backless outfit or a garment with a deep back. The depth of the back cutout depends on how long the necklace is. If you are wearing a bra, make sure it is not visible, otherwise, it could ruin the look.
  • If you are brave enough, you can try wearing a backward necklace with a shirt buttoned backward. Just make sure you leave a couple of top buttons unbuttoned so that you can show off your piece of jewelry to the world.

What is your favorite piece of jewelry? Have you ever tried wearing a necklace backward? How did it feel?
