6 Celebrity Parents Who Changed Their Kids’ Names and the Reason Behind It

The decision of what to name your baby may take long hours of thinking and choosing the “right” one. However, in some circumstances, couples change their minds after the baby’s arrival. The reasons behind it are different, like, for example, Kylie Jenner who disliked her newborn’s name after some time, or Elon Musk who had to change the name of his son for legal reasons.

1. Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott

In 2022, Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott became parents for the second time, welcoming their son, Wolf. However, recently, the couple decided to change his name. The young mom admitted the pair simply didn’t feel the name “was him.” Still, Kylie and Travis haven’t announced the new name yet, so we can only guess which one they will choose.

2. Elon Musk and Grimes

Elon Musk and Grimes are examples of parents who gave their child one of the most unusual names of all time: X Æ A-12. However, later, it turned out that it was illegal to give a child such a name because of a law in California that states you may only use the 26 alphabetical characters of the English language in a name. But it seems like Elon found a way around this rule, changing the numbers 12 to Roman numerals, leaving the baby with the name X Æ A-Xii.

3. Amy Schumer and Chris Fischer

The story behind Amy Schumer and Chris Fischer changing the name of their son is pretty funny. The couple named their child Gene Attell, but later realized it sounded like “genital.” Now, the boy’s name is Gene David.

4. Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierra

Another couple who decided to change the name of their baby is Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierra. The couple was going to name their daughter Tezlee, but ultimately went with Vaeda Luma instead. As Cetylynn commented: “Every time someone would say Tezlee, we would cringe! It just wasn’t sitting with us like it did at first,” she revealed.

5. Jamie Otis and Doug Hehner

Former TV-show star Jamie Otis and her husband, Doug Hehner, welcomed their son in 2020. Before the child’s birth, the couple agreed that they’d name him Hayes Douglas, however, things changed when they met him for the first time. “The minute we had our son...I almost called him Hendrix. That was like a top name for him.”

Eventually, the couple decided to call him Hendrix. So it seems like you need to see a baby first in order to define their final name.

6. Caterina Scorsone and Rob Giles

Grey’s Anatomy star Caterina Scorsone and her husband, Rob Giles, decided on changing the name of their daughter 4 months after her birth. The girl was initially named Arwen, but the parents have decided to call her by her middle name instead, Lucinda or “Lucky” for short. The couple commented they’d had a change of heart after getting to know their little one.
