Steve Irwin’s 24-year-old daughter Bindi Irwin has opened up about her condition and revealed that doctors found 37 lesions in her body. She has been suffering excruciating pain for the last decade. She finally decided to open up to raise awareness for the disease and inspire other women not to invalidate their pain and seek help.

“For 10 years, I’ve struggled with insurmountable fatigue, pain, & nausea.”

Admitting that she was unsure if she should share with the world that she was diagnosed with endometriosis, Bindi decided to share her journey as she felt responsible. For the last decade, she has suffered awful pain but was told by a doctor that it was something women must deal with, causing her to give up entirely on finding answers and keeping her struggling to function through the pain.

It wasn’t until a friend encouraged her to undergo surgery. “Going in for surgery was scary, but I knew I couldn’t live like I was. Every part of my life was getting torn apart because of the pain,” she confessed. “To cut a long story short, they found 37 lesions, some very deep & difficult to remove, & a chocolate cyst.”

She’s on her road to recovery.

The Crikey! star further says that things are not always what they seem, and people might be battling their battles secretly, so judgment is better left out of the room, “Please be gentle & pause before asking me (or any woman) when we’ll be having more children. After all that my body has gone through, I feel tremendously grateful that we have our gorgeous daughter.”

Her family is right by her side.

Her younger brother commented on her post, “You are amazing. Not only for your strength in battling through this physical and mental turmoil but also for having the bravery to share your journey with the world to help other suffering women. You’re my hero.”

Bindi’s husband Chandler also shared a post on his Instagram honoring and praising his wife’s bravery, “You are my inspiration to be as strong as I can be in every aspect of life. Seeing how you pushed through the pain to care for our family and continue our conservation work while being absolutely riddled with endometriosis will inspire me forever.”

Other celebrities suffer from endometriosis.

Lena Dunham, Susan Sarandon, Whoopi Goldberg, Emma Bunton, Halsey, Padma Lakshmi, Sharon Stone, and Amy Schumer are some of the famous women who’ve battled the condition. Amy appreciates Bindi for sharing her journey with the world and left a comment on her post thanking her. To which Bindi replied, “Thank you for leading the way.”
