According to a study, falling in love at work is a normal stage in romance, as 22% of people meet their significant others as colleagues. This is probably truer for our favorite couples who fell in love on set. But even if some of these love stories ended, one thing’s for sure: they shared their undeniable chemistry both on-screen and in real life.

1. Julia Roberts and Matthew Perry

Some Friends fans may remember Julia Roberts in one Super Bowl episode, where she played Chandler Bing’s (played by Matthew Perry) former classmate and date, Susie Moss. But it was a long road to getting her to appear on the show. Roberts agreed to play the part on one condition — Perry had to explain quantum physics to her.

Fairly enough, he delivered what she asked for, and the 2 began flirting over fax messages and phone calls. After Roberts’ appearance on the show, the actors started to see each other, but the romance lasted only a year. Perry recalled the breakup in his memoir, writing, “Dating Julia Roberts had been too much for me. I had been constantly certain that she was going to break up with me. Why would she not?”

2. Jenna Dewan and Channing Tatum

Jenna Dewan and Channing Tatum hit it off as dance partners in the first Step Up movie, and it seems that their dance floor chemistry was a charm for the movie franchise as it continued until its fifth installment. The 2 tied the knot after 3 years of dating and celebrated 10 years of marriage after calling it quits. Despite the falling out, they still co-parent their daughter, Everly.

3. Lili Reinhart and Cole Sprouse

Jughead Jones and Betty Cooper, also known as “Bughead,” couldn’t have lasted long without the real-life romance between Riverdale actors Cole Sprouse and Lili Reinhart. However, despite working together on the long-running series, the couple decided to call things off after 2 years of dating. They remain friends, with Sprouse recalling their relationship as “an incredible experience” and a “chance to fall in love.”

4. Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth

The whirlwind romance between Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth caused a will-they-won’t-they predicament among fans. The pair fell head over heels for each other while filming The Last Song, in which they played lovers on a summer fling.

Right after, they dated on and off before eventually marrying in 2018. However, differences got ahead of the couple, and they split after 1 year of being Mr. and Mrs. Hemsworth.

5. Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell

Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell’s perfect pairing can be considered one of Hollywood’s longest-standing couples. Their friendship blossomed in 1966 while starring in The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band, and years later, they rekindled it into a decades-long relationship. They have already celebrated 39 years of being together.

“If you’re lucky enough to have someone like Goldie Hawn come along and feel the way she feels, you’re just lucky,” Russell fondly shared.

Another pairing that’s off the charts is Zendaya and Tom Holland’s young love affair. After being cast as MJ and the titular hero in Spider-Man: Homecoming, the 2 started as friends, and, eventually, that friendship unraveled into a budding romance between the co-stars who’ve shared the screen 3 times now.

7. Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder

Who could forget the steamy scenes shared by The Vampire Diaries co-stars Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder in the 2010s? They brought their 3-year relationship from reel to real despite Dobrev’s hesitance at first. “I didn’t want to be dating one of my co-stars...but sometimes you can’t help who you have a connection with, and you can only fight it for so long,” she shared.

But now, even though things didn’t turn out the way they intended for their romance, the 2 remain friends. They still hang out and go on double dates with their significant others.

8. Amanda Seyfried and Dominic Cooper

Sophie and Sky from Mamma Mia truly lived their sweet and innocent love off-screen. Now exes, Amanda Seyfried and Dominic Cooper shared an almost 3-year relationship after playing a young engaged couple in the hit musical. Though broken up, they still reprised their roles in the second movie, Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again.

9. Natalia Dyer and Charlie Heaton

Love is truly strange, as Natalia Dyer and Charlie Heaton found love on set while shooting the sci-fi series, Stranger Things. They play teenagers Nancy and Jonathan, who become victims of the good-friends-turned-couple storyline. This may have been influenced by one key moment. “That first audition, we did a chemistry read with [Charlie and] Natalia and sparks were flying,” the show’s co-creator, Matt Duffer, said.

10. Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron

High School Musical co-stars Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron really found a “start of something new” when they played Gabriela Montez and Troy Bolton in the hit Disney Channel movie. But it only took 4 years for the lovebirds to finally end their romance on good terms.

Hudgens admitted it was partly because of the distance. “Long-distance relationships are hard no matter what. When you don’t have face-to-face time, it’s just different,” she said.

The Scream franchise wouldn’t be complete without the constant bantering and bickering of Gail Weathers and Deputy Dewey, played by then-real-life couple Courteney Cox and David Arquette. The 2 shared a marriage and a daughter, Coco.

Although they’ve separated, Cox still holds Arquette dearly in her heart. “He’s my best friend in the world,” she said of her ex-husband. They recently reunited for a sequel 25 years later.

12. Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson

Twilight contributed to fans’ frenzy of young adult vampire novels in the late 2000s, and Edward and Bella created a whole new world for them. Many followed their love story in the books, the movies, and in real life. Co-stars Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson felt their instant chemistry and kept it going for 4 wonderful years before breaking up after starring in the last movie together.

13. Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds

Although Ryan Reynolds really hated Green Lantern, he couldn’t completely despise the movie since he met the love of his life while filming it. Blake Lively and Reynolds played love interests in the superhero flick, and a year after it was released, the 2 secretly got married. They now share 3 daughters and have another baby on the way.

14. Rose Leslie and Kit Harington

Though Ygritte and Jon Snow’s love affair didn’t last in Game of Thrones, Rose Leslie and Kit Harington continued their romance in real life after starring on the show together. Their on-and-off relationship ended when the couple finally and royally tied the knot in a lavish ceremony in a castle.

15. Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher

Jackie and Kelso stole our hearts and laughs in That ’70s Show in the late ’90s. And even though the series ended in 2006, castmates Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher stayed on the line with their friendship, ultimately leading them to get hitched in 2015. Here’s a fun fact: Kutcher was Kunis’s first kiss, and it happened to be onscreen. “I was so nervous and uncomfortable. I had the biggest crush on him,” she shared.

16. Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling

Avid readers of Nicholas Sparks gave the movie version of the book, The Notebook, a chance, and it became an instant hit. This was likely thanks to the fiery passion and drama that Allie and Noah radiated onscreen. Their romance continued even when the cameras weren’t rolling.

Although the 2 split in 2007, Gosling sweetly recalled that their love story was even more romantic than Allie and Noah’s.

Is there someone you know who fell in love at their workplace? How did it go for them?
