16 Stories That Prove We Have More Happy Moments Than We Think

The pace of life nowadays is very high. And sometimes each of us needs moments when we can slow down and just give ourselves some time to feel happiness. Or at least recall a moment like this. Our today’s heroes shared stories about these moments.

  • The kitten that my wife and I rescued off the street choosing me as his person and climbing up me every day, so he can nuzzle up to me. I’m covered in tiny claw marks and I couldn’t be happier. © weirdload / Reddit
  • Tomorrow, I’m getting married. For the second time. At the age of 37, when I was going to “live happily ever after” alone with myself, well, and the cat, of course.
In all these years, I’ve had a lot of weird dates... I gave up and thought to just live and spend time with someone from time to time. I decided that there was no man for me, and there won’t be. But a few months ago, he showed up. I’m still in shock, but I’m happy. © Radostnya / Pikabu
  • I live alone with my daughter. I work a lot and make good money. But all the time I tend to save on myself. I’m torn in between “I need to renovate my place” and “I need to repay the loan,” or “I need to urgently take my daughter to the sea.”
One day, I freaked out and bought a treadmill, which I’d always wanted. And a couple of dumbbells. And you know, I am the happiest person. © SofiBro / Pikabu
  • My 1-year-old daughter kissed me for the first time. I was half asleep in bed, with my wife and daughter lying in the middle. Then I see her crawling toward me with a big smile, I’m a little confused as to why she is crawling so close to me. Then she grabs me by the ears and pulls her head toward me and kisses me on my nose.
That woke me up right away. I was so excited that I woke my wife up also. © Stark371 / Reddit
  • I am in my forties, and have a job I love. I’ve been with the same company for nearly 10 years (20 more to go!), but a few years ago, I went back to school (paid for by my work), so I could get a particular credential I needed, so I could advance in my career. 5 years later, I did it! © BooBoo_Cat / Reddit
  • I walk past the bathroom where my husband has locked in, and hear a soft muttering. My heart sank — he’s talking to someone quietly on the phone, so I can’t hear. Who is she? We love each other so much... I’m about to cry.
And then I see his phone in the kitchen, next to mine. I realized he wasn’t talking to anyone, but was rehearsing his speech. I felt very stupid and very happy. © Overheard / Ideer
  • I’m 14 years old, mid-May. I went fishing with my father. We put up a tent.
You know, I’m 45 years old now. I’ve been around half the world, there have been all kinds of trips and feelings. But I’ve never experienced that feeling of happiness and serene peace. We’re in the tent, a little chilly, but bearable. Dad’s asleep. I’m with him. And I’m happy. © Unknown author / Pikabu
  • One month after my 3-year-old son had open-heart surgery, the wife and I took him and our 6-month-old daughter to Florida to see the ocean for the first time. That relaxing week was perfect because we had come through so much anxiety. We go every year, but that first trip was by far the best. © mudstump / Reddit
  • Today when I realized I was not only comfortable, but genuinely had fun at work. New place, it’s my third day. I forgot that it was possible to not only not want to die every second but actually enjoy working. © ipakookapi / Reddit
  • I’m a mature woman now, and I’m in a stable financial situation, I can afford a lot of things. I’ve never been so genuinely excited about a puffer jacket I bought on sale for peanuts.
In my hungry student years, I was that happy only when I bought a puffer jacket at a high price in an expensive outerwear department with my earned money. I think it’s because my life values and priorities have changed. © Overheard / Ideer
  • My daughter would not stop crying, my wife was so upset that she just handed her to me and said, “You deal with it.” As soon as my daughter realized that it was me holding her, she smiled and stopped crying. My brain exploded with dopamine. It was objectively the happiest I had ever been. © Lord_Mikal / Reddit
  • I met a friend I hadn’t seen in 6 years. Albeit, this was 2 weeks ago, we were able to hop in a jeep and drive for hours into the distance, catching up about life. It was an expensive drive (gas, man), but the scenery was beautiful. © codingIsCancer / Reddit
  • My morning started with bad coffee, disheveled hair, and my kitten going to the toilet into my new boots. Then at work, I found out I’d been sacked. And I don’t care about any of it, because last night my boyfriend proposed to me. I’m the happiest girl in the world! © Ward 6 / VK
  • I get covered in red spots as soon as I start crying. It never disturbed me until my wedding day. The photographer sent us some photos, and my neck and arms were covered in crimson spots. I saw it and burst into tears.
All the photos were ruined. But my husband immediately found some video tutorials and managed to correct this. He spent almost 3 days, but removed all the spots, and now I’m not ashamed to post wedding photos. © Chamber 6 / VK
  • Today I realized I was in love. This unbelievable feeling of lightness, elation, happiness. So dear, soft, and joyful. My beloved...brand-new mattress! I am 29 years old, 20 of which I spent in agony on an old mattress. © Ward 6 / VK
  • Have you ever seen a man crying? Not from pain, but happiness.
Yesterday at work I watched how a man in his forties suddenly cried, and then shouted happily, “Son! Can you imagine, I have a son! I’m a father!” and then joyfully ran off somewhere. An incredible sight. © Chamber 6 / VK

And here’s another bunch of stories from people who experienced ultimate happiness.
