10-Year-Old Girl Successfully Delivers Baby After Mom Goes Into Labor at Home
Life can be unpredictable, with things occurring at the most unexpected times, catching us off guard. When her mom went into labor, Miracle, the exemplary little girl in this story, never expected to be the one helping her mother give birth to her younger sister. It was a true miracle that let her live up to her name, and was only possible thanks to a 911 dispatcher’s invaluable support in providing this family with a delightful ending.
Her mother went into labor before she was at full term.
Miracle, a 10-year-old girl from Missouri in the US, contributed significantly to our society by assisting her mother in giving birth to the child she was carrying — her future sister.
Miracle’s mother, Viola Fair, 30, went into labor at home, unexpectedly. This happened 3 weeks early, and Miracle and her mother were at a loss about what to do. Viola couldn’t get to the hospital quickly, so she told her daughter to dial 911.
A true blessing came in the form of a 911 dispatcher.
Miracle rushed to her phone to dial 911 as soon as her mother gave her the go-ahead. With her calm conversation amid the challenging situation, the dispatcher who answered the phone played a vital role in the baby’s birth.
“Hi, I think my mom is in labor,” Miracle told the dispatcher when they picked up the phone. Scott Stranghoener, the man who aided her, gave the little girl a sequence of instructions, which she subsequently relayed to her mother. The call only lasted a few minutes, but it made a big difference during that vital moment.
Miracle was able to help her mother, Viola, deliver the baby safely with the dispatcher’s cool-headed guidance. Despite the difficult situation, the young child maintained her composure and followed all the directions. “Don’t sit on the toilet,” and “Mama, they said to lie on your back in the center of the bed or on the floor,” were the words she kept repeating to her mom.
When the time came, Miracle told the dispatcher what everyone was expecting: “She’s coming! She’s coming! She’s here! ... Her head is here!” At that precise moment, the girl proved her unwavering strength, and when the baby finally arrived, “Miracle was there with a towel to wipe off her face and to help stimulate her to cry and keep her warm until paramedics arrived.”
She became a hero in her local community.
Paramedics arrived a few minutes later and took the new mother and child to the hospital for a checkup. The mother and kid were both healthy, and the community later posted about the “miracle” delivery on social media, honoring the young girl as a true heroine.
“She was really helpful, I am very thankful,” Miracle’s mother said once she recovered from the birth, very proud of what her little girl did.
They greeted Miracle with a special certificate and other gifts, including a pink stork pin, a tablet with educational activities, and a journal in which she could record her incredible experience. At only 10 years old, Miracle demonstrated greater strength than everyone else, doing something for which she can always be proud.
Today, the entire family is safe and sound, and they are overjoyed with the birth of this new baby girl. Miracle’s mother is incredibly proud of her daughter and grateful she was present. She confessed, “It was definitely a miracle because once I had the baby, she came out, I couldn’t really grab her and pick her up, and then Miracle came, and she wrapped her up in a towel.”
Despite her initial fear, little Miracle did everything right to welcome her younger sister. Today, she is proud of what she accomplished and aspires to become a doctor to assist others in need, just as she did with her mother.
