A Man Doesn’t Let His Girlfriend Fart in Their House, “It’s Unladylike”
Women exercise their voting rights, contribute to taxes, and own property. Yet, ironically, certain individuals struggle with natural bodily functions. In today’s story, a man has prohibited his partner from farting at their home, citing concerns about it being perceived as “unladylike.”
A woman took to a well-known Reddit forum to share her experience of a heated disagreement with her boyfriend following an incident where she farted in the kitchen.
“This is going to sound ridiculous, but my husband is convinced I’ve done something wrong, so I just want to make sure I’m not overlooking something,” she started.
She continued her story, “Yesterday I was watching TV with him while I was resting my head on his lap when I farted. He asked, ’Did you just fart...?’ I answered yes, and he then said, ’Don’t do that in front of me. It’s nasty and unladylike.’ I could sort of understand the nasty bit, but it was unladylike...?”
“The fart was accidental. I didn’t do it on purpose. And yes, he farts in front of me,” she finally added.
However, a lot of commenters joined the conversation, criticizing the woman’s partner for his reaction:
- “Being a woman doesn’t mean you stop having basic human needs, farting is normal, and everyone does it.” PinkGlasses1 / Reddit
- “Farting is a normal, albeit smelly, bodily function, and you should feel comfortable to do it in front of your partner without judgment.” Unknown / Reddit
- “Does he expect you to get up and go into the other room every time you have to fart? Does he not fart in front of you? Farts happen while you’re sleeping. Does he expect you not to fart in bed while you’re asleep? He needs to get over himself.” miyuki_m / Reddit
And letting your fart free — alone or with someone else around — is the right way to behave. In fact, if you constantly hold it, it can cause major problems to your body.
