Helen Mirren Was “Excited to Be in Bed” With Harrison Ford, Reuniting With Him After 37 Years

During TheWrap’s 2023 Awards Season Screening Series, Dame Helen Mirren revealed that she had to maintain her composure while filming intimate scenes with her co-star, Harrison Ford, in their new TV series. The 77-year-old actress passionately recounted a specific scene where their characters, Jacob and Cara Dutton, were in bed together.

Mirren explained that she was fully dressed for the scene, but lying in bed next to Ford made her incredibly excited. She had to act cool and composed, even though she was thinking, “I’m in bed with Harrison Ford.” Mirren jokingly asked the audience not to tell Ford about her excitement.

The Oscar winner also expressed admiration for Ford’s behavior on set and his kindness toward her. Mirren, who had previously worked with Ford in the 1986 film, The Mosquito Coast, praised the actor for his humility despite being a huge movie star. “He’s amazing. He really is,” she shared.

Mirren spoke highly of Ford’s professionalism and generosity toward his fellow actors, describing him as easy to work with. She also jokingly mentioned that she would have had a romantic interest in him if she weren’t married. “I genuinely love him,” she stated.

During an appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert in February, Harrison Ford reciprocated Helen Mirren’s compliments. Ford, who co-starred with Mirren in The Mosquito Coast, credited her as one of the main reasons why he agreed to star in their recent project for the Paramount Network.

While reminiscing about his time working with Mirren, Colbert showed Ford an on-set photo of the 2 actors. The late-night host praised Mirren’s beauty, calling her “sexy and still sexy,” to which Ford agreed with a grin, saying, “She’s still sexy,” and cheers erupted from the audience.
