Maybe i think too innocently but as someone who uses written notes, writes on my hands, and now uses sticky notes on phone i would have seen it as writing stuff he'd want to remember for future conversations with her, future gifts. Even where she was going ...if the kids went to a certain restaurant every tuesday if anything happened at home or with phone network he could locate her. People love in different ways. I could see my stepdad keeping tracks on me like that while my mom was more ok bye! Ofc i was a terrible kid and always in trouble so anything about me would have been used as evidence ha. Innocent at home and straight As, outside of home the ringleader of sneaking out, hitchhiking to clubs with older truckers, hiding clothes and makeup to change into in a waterproof bag around the block outside. I see the stepdad here as loving, not weird.
