I’m a Mom of 19 Kids, and I’m Planning to Have MORE

Raising a kid takes a lot of work and effort, so many people decide to only have one or 2 children. On the other hand, some people dream of having large families, despite all the challenges that this might bring. Christopher and Desiree Hart-Spegal are one such couple, and they are currently the proud parents of 19 kids, even considering to have more in the future.

Christopher and Desiree Hart-Spegal met back in 2013.

When Christopher Hart-Spegal met his future wife, Desiree, he already had 8 kids, while she had 3. After falling in love, the couple quickly blended their families and tied the knot in 2014. But despite having 11 kids already between the 2 of them, the newlyweds knew that they’d want to welcome more children of their own.

Their blended family only grew bigger and bigger over the years.

Over the next decade, the Hart-Spegal family only expanded, and they welcomed the newest little addition, their 19th child, in June 2023. The baby boy, called Ezekiel James, is the couple’s 8th child together.

Last year, when they were still a family of 20, Desiree and Christopher Hart-Spegal shared their candid experiences of having so many children in an interview. “The difficulty for me is keeping things clean and organized,” the mom explained. Finances are also a tricky matter, as the parents now usually spend a whooping $15k only on yearly Christmas and birthday presents.

Despite some downsides, the mom of 19 loves to have a huge family and plans to have more kids.

Having little to no privacy is another downside to living in such a large family. “I don’t know when we’ve ever had the home alone to ourselves. I don’t think we ever have,” the mom of 19 confessed. But despite all that, the positives far outweigh the negatives, and Desiree Hart-Spegal doesn’t shy away from having even more kids in the future either.

In a recent video, which has over 1 million likes on Instagram, the pregnant mom can be seen asking her husband for more children, while the father and their kids in the background are jokingly telling her “no, no, no.”

While some people criticize them, the Hart-Spegals know that they make a great team.

After seeing their viral video, many people went to the comment section to share their thoughts. Someone wrote “that’s a classroom,” while another person said “As an older sister of 6... I feel the pain of this.” But despite the haters, Christopher and Desiree Hart-Spegal wouldn’t change a thing about their big family.

“When people see a big family they think, ’Oh, my god that must be so chaotic’ or, ’Oh, that must be so much work.’ It is work obviously, but I think any home comes with work, so it’s a matter of what order you put that work in and how efficient that machine runs,” the father of 19 said.

It’s never too early to start if you want a large family. Despite being in her early twenties, Christina Ozturk is already the proud mother of 11 kids and wants to have a lot more babies in the future.
