Keanu Reeves and His Girlfriend Make a Rare Public Appearance, and We Can Feel Their Love Through the Screen

Keanu Reeves and longtime girlfriend Alexandra Grant made their first stylish appearance together in nearly three years, in a charity event for the 2022 MOCA Gala, on Saturday, June 4 at The Geffen Contemporary in Los Angeles. The duo wowed fans with their elegant looks, and the sweet pictures of the couple have taken the internet by storm.

Their stylish appearance

The much-loved couple turned a red carpet appearance into a special date night, as they stepped out in style, holding hands, giggling together, and smiling sweetly into each other’s eyes not containing their happiness.

For their red carpet date night, Reeves rocked a navy suit with a maroon and blue striped tie, while Grant looked stunning in a simple yet elegant red gown featuring a chic halterneck detail, paired with a gold Chanel clutch and silver sparkly pumps.

Keanu has always been tight-lipped when it came to dating.

The John Wick star claimed in 2019 that he came to Hollywood to be in movies and continued, “I feel really grateful that I’ve had that opportunity, but I’m just a private person, and it’s nice that can still exist.”

The low-key couple first sparked romance rumors when they attended the Saint Laurent fashion show together in June 2019. That same year, the pair first went public with their romance at the LACMA Art + Film Gala in Los Angeles.

Since, they have stayed off the radar but resurfaced in October 2020 in Berlin, while Reeves was in town to film The Matrix 4, and Grant joined him on set. Afterwards, the pair was spotted kissing in romantic date nights in the city.

How the pair initially met

Keanu originally met the visual artist at a dinner party in 2009. And they first connected when she did illustrations for one of his books, Ode to Happiness, in 2011. Then the second one, Shadows, followed in 2016. Later on, in 2017, they founded together the publishing company X Artists’ Books.

Their relationship

While the exact timeline of Keanu and Alexandra’s romantic relationship is unclear, Grant’s friend, popular actress Jennifer Tilly revealed in 2020 that the pair have actually been together romantically for years, for much longer than fans thought. She also claimed that Alexandra had referred to Keanu as her “boyfriend.” But it was only in 2020 that the couple officially addressed the rumors surrounding their relationship.

It’s finally a joyous time for Reeves.

Reeves had endured a painful past, as he grew up with an absent father who served time in prison. Moreover, Reeves’ sister Kim was diagnosed with leukemia in 1991. And the actor gave up 70% of his The Matrix income for leukemia research and even auctioned a date with himself. It was also hard for him to lose his good friend, actor and musician River Phoenix at age 23, in 1993.

Furthermore, Reeves and former girlfriend Jennifer Syme lost their daughter Ava, who was stillborn, in 1999. The couple split when the grief became too much to bear for them, but remained friends until her untimely death in 2001 from a car crash.
