Shannen Doherty, aged 52, received her initial breast cancer diagnosis in February 2015. Following a year of living with the illness, the actress bravely opened up about the emotional toll of losing her hair in a heartfelt interview. In 2018, as part of her recovery, Doherty underwent reconstructive surgery following a mastectomy she had undergone around the time of her initial diagnosis announcement. In that very year, the renowned star also candidly discussed how her battle with cancer had contributed to her growth as an actor, enhancing her skills in the process. “It’s the best time in the world for me to be an actor because I’m so in touch with every single emotion,” she revealed.

In 2020, the Beverly Hills, 90210 star announced that her cancer had come back, and she had been privately battling the disease for a year before making it public. This time her disease was even more serious, as Doherty was diagnosed with stage 4 terminal cancer.

Regrettably, Shannen Doherty faced yet another significant setback when her marriage to her spouse of 11 years came to an end in April 2023. Just a few months following this emotional development, in June, Doherty revealed a devastating update: her stage 4 breast cancer had metastasized to her brain. In her heartfelt post, she candidly expressed the fear she experienced while undergoing radiation treatment, recounting the moments when she found herself beneath the machine.

The actors gathered once more at 90s Con, this time in Tampa, Florida. During the event, Doherty took the opportunity to share a heartfelt update on her ongoing cancer journey with her fans. As the panel concluded, the actress received a standing ovation from the audience, a touching moment that moved her to tears.

“Thank you so much,” the emotional star said. “You guys know how much I love crying constantly. And I do, it seems. So, thank you.” But Shannen Doherty still managed to be her positive self, adding that “I have a fight for my life, that I deal with every day. I think I am really great.”
