Woman, 68, Welcomes Her Late Son’s Biological Daughter Via Surrogate

At 68, actress Ana Obregón shocked the world with the news of her welcoming a baby via surrogate. The actress later explained that the newborn girl is in fact her granddaughter and that the story is even more fascinating than we thought. Fulfilling her son’s dream

In May 2020, the Spanish actress and presenter lost her only son Aless to cancer at the age of 27. Before he started treatment, Aless had made the decision to have his sperm frozen. In fact, Ana explained that her son wanted to become a father, saying, ’’What people don’t know is that this was Aless’ last will.’’

In order to make Aless’ wish come true, Obregón explained that they embarked on the journey to conceive his baby ’’the day my child went to heaven.’’

A purposeful yet challenging path

The actress described the process that took 3 years as a ’’long road’’ where several attempts were needed for a pregnancy to result.

However, this journey was also what gave Ana the strength to go on after the loss of her son. She noted “It’s what has kept me alive.” She added, “It’s just that if it weren’t for this, I wouldn’t be here anymore.”

The miracle of birth

In 2023, the family was overjoyed to welcome baby Ana Sandra Lequio Obregón, nicknamed Anita, via surrogate.

In an interview, Ana opened up about the precious new addition to their family, saying “She is Aless’s daughter, and when she grows up, I will tell her that her father was a hero so that she knows who she is and how proud she should be of him.”

Keeping Aless’s memory alive

The birth of Anita brings immense joy to the 68-year-old who lost her only child too soon but is comforted by having his daughter in her arms. In a message to her deceased son, the Spanish star noted, “When I hug her, it’s an indescribable feeling because it’s as if I were hugging you again.”

Ana also promises her late child that she will take care of his daughter, noting “and from heaven, you will help me.”

The doting mother, who is still mourning the loss of her beloved son, addresses him saying “My Aless: I swore I would save you from cancer, and I failed you.” Then she adds, “I promised you I’d bring your daughter into the world and here she is in my arms.”

She concludes her deeply moving message by noting, “You are the love of my life in heaven and your daughter is the love of my life on earth. I love you to death. Mom ❤️.”
