“My Mother Left My Father for a Woman,” A Walk to Remember Star, Mandy Moore, Let Us Peek Into Her Family Life

Actress and singer Mandy Moore was an icon to many teenagers after starring alongside Shane West in the drama flick, A Walk to Remember. Interestingly, Moore also participated in a slew of Disney projects, like performing as the voice of Princess Rapunzel in the Disney animated fantasy musical, Tangled (2010). These curiosities, however, don’t end here, as the star was also born into the “extraordinary” family that you will soon learn about in this article.
Moore’s mom left her father for a woman.
Moore learned about her parents’ divorce by accident.
The news came unexpectedly for both her father and Moore herself. She learned about this by accident via an email she wasn’t supposed to read. On Christmas, Moore bought both of her parents laptops and was setting up their email accounts. Suddenly, she found a draft message intended for her and her brothers where her mother admitted that she had found a woman and wanted to divorce their father.
Moore was frustrated by her parents’ split, but eventually, the most important thing for her was that her mom was her authentic self. Later, her father got re-married and is living a happy life.
Her family is truly “extraordinary.”
Moore admits that her family is an “extraordinary case.” She also shared that her 2 brothers are gay and came out early in life. And even her father jokingly asked whether she wanted to share anything. As for the actress, she is now married to a man and is raising 2 kids.
Despite the split, Moore is proud of her family.
Moore is happy that she and her family live in a time when everyone can truly be themselves and be protected while doing so. As she noticed, “I feel like we’re at a time in our culture when we’re able to have a much more open dialogue. I’m encouraged and excited that eventually, we’re going to get to a point where none of this matters. Orientation just won’t factor in anymore.”
And despite her parents’ split, she is happy that her loved ones are not hiding who they are and there are no secrets between them anymore. Moore truly admires her mom and brothers and supports them in any way she can. She adds, “Nothing makes me happier than seeing anybody live their authentic self and to choose love. If anyone can find love, I support it, I salute you, and I celebrate that.”
The actress is a happy mom of 2.
Now the actress is raising her own 2 boys and continues the special traditions her parents started, including Christmas ones. She is spending the holidays with her family as Moore is currently on maternity leave. The actress gave birth to her second son last year — a year after her first son was born. She made this sweet announcement in an Instagram post: “Our hearts have doubled in size and the immediacy of the love is astounding. He is beyond words, and we are so grateful for our family of 4!”
Do you enjoy Mandy Moore’s work? And do you agree with her that we live in a time where everyone can be their authentic selves?
