9 Reasons Your Shoes Look Cheap

Trying to follow fashion trends, some women forget that an expensive and famous brand doesn’t guarantee a noble look. And shoes play an important role when you meet new people. If you still wear uncomfortable high heels and love red patent leather shoes, this article is definitely for you.

Bright Side has collected 9 reasons why our expensive shoes look cheap.

9. Lots of sparkly and shiny details

Expensive dresses decorated with rhinestones can look really great, but shoes covered with sparkling details always look inappropriate and strange. Also, crystals used on shoes are usually poor quality and may fall off during the first or second wear.

If you love shiny footwear, choose shoes in metallic shades.

8. Extremely high platform shoes

Some short girls prefer to wear high platform shoes. But despite the price, these shoes don’t look expensive or elegant. High platforms turn legs into “hoofs” and the whole body looks out of proportion. It’s recommended to choose small platform shoes or shoes without a platform at all. To look gorgeous, you really just need to put classic heels on.

7. Combining several colors

Try to avoid wearing too many colors because they turn expensive footwear into cheap looking shoes. Don’t forget that it’s not recommended to mix more than 2 colors.

6. Lots of metal details

Belts, rivets, and spikes may look really great, but sometimes designers try to add as many metal elements as possible and this makes shoes look cheap. Of course a pair of boots may be decorated with a couple of rivets, but don’t choose ones with too many accessories.

5. Patent leather shoes

Even though these types of shoes look beautiful, they often get stained or scuffed right after you put them on. Matte shoes in the same silhouette will look way more expensive. If you still want to wear shiny footwear, choose neutral colors like beige, black, or white.

4. Leopard print

Leopard print shoes may be really tempting to buy, but you should pick the right color. Classic leopard print is usually associated with bad taste. If you like animal print, try to find shoes with unusual patterns (like the picture on the right.)

3. Uncomfortable shoes

Always try to find comfortable shoes. Uncomfortable footwear usually looks strange and affects our back and leg health and gait. Even if you’ve found the shoes of your dreams, don’t buy them if they’re too tight and it’s painful to walk wearing them.

An unsteady gait looks awkward no matter how expensive your shoes are. Additionally, any change in your gait may cause the soles to wear out quicker and that affects our health. Try some low or mid-heeled shoes and you’ll find that they’re more comfortable.

2. Too much faux leather

Many brands produce shoes using eco leather and that’s great. But unfortunately, popular stores sell shoes and boots made of faux materials that are very poor quality. This footwear looks cheap and loses its cushioning really fast.

If you want to buy boots made of faux leather, choose low ones. And, regular leather boots look more stylish and elegant than ones that resemble oil-cloth.

1. Old shoes

To consistently make a good impression, take care of your shoes, repair them if needed, and don’t wear your heels without heel tips. There are also lots of ways to clean and wash shoes made of different materials.
