6 Damaging Things Makeup Wipes Can Do to Your Skin

Even though just wiping your makeup off sounds like a blessing after a tiring day, it really isn’t. In fact, it’s the exact opposite. Using makeup wipes regularly can seriously damage your skin and lead to several problems.
Bright Side has found 6 ways that makeup wipes can negatively affect your skin. Check them out below.
1. They cause dryness.
Wet wipes contain alcohol, which takes your makeup off, but it also takes away your skin’s natural oils. Lack of moisture leads to dryness and dry skin. Even so, these wipes don’t effectively clean your face and still leave debris behind, making your skin less absorbent. So when you apply moisturizer afterward, they don’t work as well as you want them to.
2. They can lead to allergic reactions.
Using wet wipes is known to cause allergic reactions. Redness and pigmentation are common, but there can be serious reactions too. Back in 2015, a woman suffered a similar reaction and because of wet wipes, she was left with burn-like blisters on her fingers and her face. If you really must use a wipe, it is advised to read the label and check the ingredients first.
3. They are the reason for clogged pores and breakouts.
4. They can cause cancer.
5. They can cause premature aging.
According to a famous cosmetic doctor and skincare expert, using makeup wipes can make you age prematurely. When you use a face wipe, you tend to roughly rub your skin with it which leads to loose skin, wrinkles, and pigmentation.
6. They don’t really clean your face.
According to celebrity esthetician and skincare expert Renée Rouleau, makeup wipes never really clean your face. They just “smear dirt, bacteria, oil, and makeup around it.” They do break down the makeup particles, but that’s all they do. A proper rinsing off is always required and necessary. The best way to get rid of makeup is by washing it off with water and a gentle cleanser.
Do you use face wipes? If not, how do you remove your makeup?

I had the same issue, but I tried different brands until I found the one for me :)
That's cool! I just started using less makeup ☺
Me too, I didn't use it that often so it was easy to find out what caused the reaction
Good thing that I don't wear makeup! ??
Will save this and show it to my sister later, she's in her make-up phase now.. shes 17
