You’re hiking in the wilderness, looking for a safe spot to set up camp, all you can hear are leaves and branches cracking under your footsteps... Some squirrels are running up a tree over there! But suddenly, something unexpected happens. You notice something weird in the distance in between the trees, it kinda looks like a concrete structure of some sort! Weird... At this point, you’re at least 20 miles deep into the woods and there are no nearby towns or villages...as far as you know. So, you decide to go off the trail with your friends to get a closer look. But as you get nearer you realize that it’s actually a 12-foot-tall staircase, and it’s leading to... Nowhere? Hmm. What’s it doing there, in the middle of literally nowhere? And it doesn’t even lead to anything. You put on your Sherlock Holmes cap and investigate. So...maybe there used to be an old house or mansion here that collapsed over the years and the only thing left is this staircase? But weirdly enough, after circling the bizarre structure you realize there’s no trace of any ruins or even foundations! It’s like someone just sliced a staircase off their house, cake style, and plopped it here, for no reason. Ok...

They said it was the most technologically advanced ship. They said it was unsinkable. And when it sank, they made a movie about it. These were the main reasons why the Titanic disaster became world famous. But unfortunately, this is not the only large-scale shipwreck. And, sadly, there have been cases much worse than the tragedy of the Titanic.

Somewhere near California, there’s a curious place with over 5,200 underwater holes located right on the seafloor. No one was bothered much about them, — those holes were known to the maritime community and weren’t a big deal. Everyone just thought it was due to underground gas. However, back in 2019, the seafloor was investigated with a robot, and guess what — no gas was found there. They did find something, though. It turned out that 15,000 more holes appeared on the seafloor. Some scientists claim those were fish that had dug those holes. Seems like they just kicked up dust to accommodate themselves, and the dust was simply washed away by the currents. Right, some fish did live in those holes, but most of them were vacant. So, the mystery is yet to be solved!

15 Chillingly Fun Facts About Ice Cream

How long do you think ice cream has been saving humanity on hot summer days? For many centuries. No one knows for sure the story of how ice cream was discovered, but it likely dates back at least as far as the fourth century BCE. Of course, it wasn’t the ice cream we know today. Alexander the Great, the king of Macedonia, would enjoy snow and ice covered in honey and nectar. That’s the early ice cream. The Roman Emperor, Nero Caesar, was eating snow flavored with fruits and juices. How would those guys get snow if they lived in very warm climates? Well, their helpers would run up a nearby mountain to bring some from up there. I’m not sure how they were dealing with it without a refrigerator, but I guess they had ways. Some historians say that there were deep pits covered with straw, and the snow was stored there after harvesting it from the mountains. How it didn’t melt on the way to the pit remains a mystery to me. But history has many of those.

What Stops Them Building Bridges Over Amazon River

What Stops Them Building Bridges Over Amazon River
Curiosities

The Amazon River travels through 9 South American countries at a length of over 4,000 miles. Still, it’s impossible to cross it by a bridge. With the river being the main highway traveling through this dense forest and so few areas populated around the river, there’s just no reason to have one. The river can rise up to 30 feet, and the river crossings that were only 3 miles wide can expand to over 30 miles in just a few short weeks in certain spots, making a bridge nearly impossible to build here.

The growing interest in traveling gave rise not only to travel bloggers but to unusual recommendations for tourists as well. For example, the online magazine Insider Monkey created a ranking of countries where the most handsome men on our planet live. The results of international beauty contests such as Manhunt International, Mister Global, Mister International, and Mr. World were used for the benchmark, and each country got one point for a win in one of these contests. Such categories as "Mr. Congeniality," "Mr. Internet Popularity," "Best Physique," "Best Model," "Mr. Charming Smile," and "People’s Choice" were valued at half a point. Bright Side could not ignore this chart. If the men of these countries won so many titles, it's logical to think that everyone else there can also boast of their handsomeness, right? Let's check it out.
