There are two types of manual can openers. The ones held horizontally are “safety.” You cannot use a standard opener held the opposite way.(I do not mean left handed vs right handed) It pierces the can’s side but does not rotate around the can when the turning mechanism is turned either way. Maybe if we had 3 hands, the extra to rotate the can. The photo also shows the turning mechanism in contact with the can instead of the cutting gears which definitely won’t work.

I actually tried on my standard one, and it isn’t a question of strength. They usually glide fairly easily to cut in a circle around the can. Many people have electric can openers. I have always owned a manual one.

#12 yes definitely not antibacterial every time you wash and hand sanitizer shouldn’t be excessive for similar scientific reasons. Most people should not be uber sterile unless a specific disease and specific doctor requiring an individual. Immunity is FASCINATING. =D
