The film industry is moving into space, and advanced technology has made it possible to create a 3D living skin. The planet, for the first time in decades, got a little break and a breath of fresh air, which was enough to result in countless positive environmental outcomes.
Looks like we’re good to go. Bright Side collected several pieces of really good news to make your day a little brighter.
- The second person in the world was cured of HIV and is now 36 months free of the virus. This consistency proves that the disease might be curable.
- Scientists have developed a glove that translates sign language into speech in real-time. So, deaf people can now communicate with anyone, without a translator.
- Sea eagles, the UK’s largest birds, had disappeared from the country back in 1780. Now, 240 years later, they’re coming back.
- In 1979, the African elephant was classified as an endangered species. To save the population, a campaign for conservation of the species was launched. It was recently reported, that Kenya’s population has doubled since 1989.
- Indians planted 250 million trees as part of a government plan to tackle climate change.
- A girl with Down syndrome has graduated from the California Institute of the Arts with a Bachelor’s degree in Photography & Media.
- The iconic sitcom Friends had been running for 10 years and ended in 2004. 16 years later, it was announced that Friends will reunite for a special episode.
- The largest hole in the ozone layer that existed over the Arctic has closed. This means that not only we are more protected now, but we have also reversed some of the damage that we had caused.
- After his partner died in 2012, an elephant from a Pakistani zoo was called the “world’s loneliest elephant.” In addition to loneliness, he had also been suffering from poor living conditions. Finally, he was recently permitted to leave the zoo. He’ll be transported to Cambodia, where he’ll find companionship and better living conditions.
- After 4 years without any cases, Nigeria announced that it was free of wild polio. Even though people still have to watch out and keep getting the vaccine, this puts an end to the virus as a whole in Africa, after many years of paralyzing children.
- Costa Rica has recently legalized same-sex marriage, becoming the first county in Central America to do so.
- It was announced that NASA, Elon Musk’s Space X, Universal, and Tom Cruise will collaborate to shoot the first movie in space.
- In the past few decades, air pollution had been getting more dramatic. This year, a significant reduction was revealed all over the world. For example, in the Northeast U.S., air pollution dropped by 30%.
- Researchers have succeeded in printing a 3D living skin model. This will prevent animal experiments in the future.
- NASA has sent a rover to Mars. It’ll land on Mars in February 2021 and will explore the planet’s geology and search for signs of ancient life there.
-  An 11-year-old ballet dancer from Nigeria has received several scholarship offers from around the world to learn ballet, after a video of him dancing barefoot in the rain went viral. In 2021, he’ll start studying in a prestigious school in the U.S.
