Fathers Who Have Daughters Tend to Live Longer, According to a Study

In addition to all the joys girls bring into this world, it turns out they also add precious years to their fathers’ lifespans. According to a study, dads with daughters tend to live longer compared to those without them.
We at Bright Side are intrigued by this research and would like to share it with you.
Since there’s not much known about the effects childbirth has on a father’s health and body, a study was conducted by researchers from Jagiellonian University to dig deeper. A large amount of demographic data was collected from over 4,310 people (consisting of 2,147 mothers and 2,163 fathers) and analyzed.
The number of children that were taken into account consisted of daughters and sons from two different variables. It was found that the total number of children or sons didn’t have any kind of effect on fathers. However, it was discovered that the number of daughters was linked to paternal longevity.
The study is claiming that fathers with daughters tend to live longer and the more daughters they have, the longer they live — by “74 weeks for each daughter born,” to be specific. And while that’s a piece of pretty good news for all the dads out there, the data didn’t do as well when it came to mothers.
According to the study that was published in the American Journal of Human Biology, both daughters and sons have a negative impact on a mother’s health and reduce her lifespan. On a more positive note, another expert recently revealed that women who stay single for longer are happier.
Contradicting that specific study, another one is claiming that having a child, regardless of the gender, increases the lifespan of both parents. Based on data collected over 14 years, these researchers have found that couples with a child are more likely to live longer compared to the ones who choose to remain childfree.
Do you agree that children increase the lifespans of their parents? Tag your father below and let him know how lucky he is to have you in his life!
