9 Hidden Things That We Might’ve Missed in Game of Thrones

While watching Game of Thrones, some questions about the plot or costumes may come up. For example, why does Daenerys change the color of her capes? The answer is: the costume designers use color to reveal her hidden emotions.

We at Bright Side cracked some hidden details in Games of Thrones and we want to share them with you, so you can rewatch this TV series with a better understanding of what’s going on.

1. Jon Snow is the nephew of Daenerys

This might be surprising, but some simple math showed that Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen are related. In the final moments, Jon told Daenerys that he is the son of her brother, Rhaegar Targaryen. So it turns out that he is her nephew.

2. For a moment, Drogon’s unfolding wings spread behind Daenerys’ back, showing her new title of the Queen.

Just take a look at the screencap above. The wings of her dragon spread behind her and made her look like she is a monster. That’s like a confirmation that Daenerys has officially gone insane and burned down the city to get the throne.

3. Season 8’s opening credits and 3D map were changed to tell a new story.

If you take a closer look, you will notice that the 3D map is different in the last season. There are many new details that can help you to understand the plot of the last season. For example, the final image shows a larger dragon flying alongside 3 smaller ones. There is also a comet falling down from the sky.

4. The Night King met his end right back where he started.

The Night King was created by the Children of the Forest. First Men cut down weirwood trees and burned them and this lead to war with the Children who pierced The First Man with dragonglass and that was the beginning of the Night King. Ironically he ends up in front of a sacred weirwood tree.

5. It’s not snow in the last episode, but ashes.

In the last episodes, it seems as if Daenerys is surrounded by snow when she stands in an empty Throne Room. But after her ruthless and murderous siege of the city where everyone and everything was burned, it’s clear that her vision came true. It’s not snow, but ashes.

6. Sansa’s coronation outfit tells how she became the Queen.

Sansa’s outfit for her coronation is not just beautiful, but also very meaningful. Basically, it shows where she came from. There are flowers modeled after Winterfell’s weirwood tree and fish scales, which honor her mother’s house of birth, House Tully. Also, she wears a wolf stole and there are 2 wolves on her crown.

7. Daenerys never even sits on the throne.

The Iron Throne was the center of the entire TV series and Daenerys also wanted to get it. Even after she won, Daenerys never sits on it and after her death, Drogon torches the Iron Throne into a puddle so nobody ever will.

8. Jon Snow rode his first dragon named after his father.

Daenerys named her dragons after 3 important men in her life: Drogon after Khal Drogo, Viserion after Viserys, and Rhaegal after Rhaegar. Rhaegal, the dragon named after Jon Snow’s father, was the first one who allowed Jon Snow to take a ride.

9. Daenerys’ capes are the symbol of her mood.

Details of the costumes are meant to convey how the characters feel and think in Game of Thrones. For example, Daenerys’ capes are different colors in different episodes. Daenerys was wearing red capes, the color of the Targaryen sigil. Suddenly, in one episode her cape is silvery-grey. This was exactly when Daenerys and Jon’s relationship started to become romantic. Grey is the color of the Stark house.

Would you change the final episode of Game of Thornes? How? Who is your favorite character?
