Making a biopic is not an easy task. You have to choose a period of a celebrity’s life to be reflected in the movie, cast actors who will play the starring roles, make sure they get into character, and most importantly get permission from the celebrity or their family to make a movie about them. But even if you’ve ticked all the boxes, the result can be unpredictable.

At Bright Side, we decided to find out what celebrities and their families said about their biopics. And at the end of the article, you’ll learn what actress is soon to portray the legendary Audrey Hepburn.

Lily James as Pamela Anderson in the series Pam & Tommy

The series tells the love story of Pamela Anderson and her then-husband Tommy Lee, including the episode where their honeymoon tape was stolen. Later, Lily James said that she had tried to get in touch with Pamela to understand her character better, but Pamela never called her back.

According to an insider, Pamela Anderson wasn’t fond of the idea that this series was supposed to be made. Moreover, she thinks this project is “an awful joke.” She is not going to watch it, and doesn’t want to do anything with it. She wants to forget this episode of her life, and she’s shocked that someone decided to recreate it on screen.

Sebastian Stan as Tommy Lee in the series Pam & Tommy

Tommy Lee, a founding member of the band Mötley Crüe, on the contrary, was glad that the series was made. He said that he didn’t watch it, but he talked to Sebastian Stan who portrayed him on screen, “The story is actually cool, but what actually happened wasn’t. But he tells me it’s pretty wild.”

Renée Zellweger as Judy Garland in the movie Judy

The movie won multiple awards, but Liza Minnelli, the daughter of legendary Judy, made it clear that she was not going to watch it. Previously, she mentioned that she didn’t approve or sanction it in any way. The only thing she said about the movie was: “I hope Renée had a good time making it.”

Austin Butler as Elvis Presley in the movie Elvis

Priscilla Presley, Elvis’ ex-wife, liked the movie. She wrote a lot about it on her social media page, inviting people to watch it.

She especially praised Austin Butler’s wonderful acting, “Austin Butler has recharged the life of Elvis Presley. Not that it has ever left us, but it will, I feel, give our younger generation a taste of why Elvis is still the king of rock and roll, beloved, and always will be.” However, she refrained from commenting on the performance of the actress who portrayed her.

Will Smith as Richard Williams in the drama King Richard

The tennis stars approved the movie. Serena confessed that she cried while watching it. The scenes featuring her late sister, Yetunde Price, she found especially painful. Venus Williams said that the movie highlighted the significance of her family’s role in the making of the two tennis champions.

Michelle Williams as Abigail Harris, J. Paul Getty’s daughter-in-law, in the movie All the Money in the World

The movie describes the tragedy that happened in the family of a billionaire oil tycoon, J. Paul Getty, whose grandson was kidnapped. The boy’s mother, Abigail Harris, watched the first version of the movie, and according to Ridley Scott, she liked it. She mentioned that her family was treated with great respect, while Getty was shown being a little gentler than he really was.

Paul Dano as Brian Wilson in the movie Love & Mercy

Brian Wilson, the frontman of The Beach Boys, talked to Paul Dano and John Cusack, who played him in different periods of life, for a long time. He wanted them to get familiar with his mannerisms. The singer even mentioned that watching Dano in the movie helped him with his own performance.

There is a scene where Paul was singing. Brian said, “He actually sang like me. He practiced for a while to sing like me, and he sang very, very much like me.”

Christian Serratos as Selena in Selena: The Series

The singer’s brother, A. B. Quintanilla, said that he watched the whole series in one go. He was impressed by the acting ensemble and mentioned that, thanks to their incredible work, fans felt a little closer to Selena. On Instagram, he wrote that he wanted to personally congratulate everyone that was involved in making Selena: The Series.

Emmy Rossum as Angelyne in the series Angelyne

Angelyne was a pioneer in self-promotion and remained a mystery for a long time. She rose to prominence after the appearance of a series of iconic billboards where she posed suggestively. These billboards caught the attention of local media outlets, and soon she received several offers for movie roles, magazine interviews, and TV show appearances.

Even though Angelyne is an executive producer of the series, she refused to watch it, “I had a little glimpse of it, and I refuse to watch it. It doesn’t do me justice.” She also insisted that Emmy Rossum, who played the leading part, looked nothing like her.

Amy Adams as Margaret Keane in the movie Big Eyes

This movie tells the story of artist Margaret Keane, whose husband attributed her works to himself. When Tim Burton decided to make the movie about her, she approved it. Ultimately, she was happy with it, though her initial reaction was one of shock, “It was the worst part of my life. It was very traumatic and after a couple of days I began to realize how great it was because it had such an effect on me and also on my daughter.”

Margaret was especially impressed with Amy Adams’ acting who played her in the movie, “I’m in awe of her ability and talent. She portrayed exactly the way I was feeling. I don’t know how she can do it without even saying a word.”

Bonus: Rooney Mara will portray Audrey Hepburn in the future movie about her

The movie plot details and its release date are being kept under wraps. But we know that it will be directed by the Oscar nominee, Luca Guadagnino. Michael Mitnick will write the script, and Rooney Mara will produce the movie, in addition to playing the leading part.

Audrey’s son, Sean Hepburn Ferrer, had nothing against the movie and leading actress. He said he wasn’t aware of the project, but found Rooney delightful.
