• Cameron Diaz was born in 1972. Her mother was an import/export agent, and her father was a foreman of the California oil company. The actress has Cuban, English, and German roots.
  Diaz remembers her parents with warmth, saying, “I had amazing parents, they were awesome. We weren’t privileged — very much the opposite. My family would collect [soda] cans to turn in for extra money because $20 meant something to us.”

• Cameron Diaz grew up with her older sister, Chimene. The future actress had snakes, mice, and was considering a career as a zoologist. She went to an ordinary school, and the future rap singer, Snoop Dog, was her classmate. When she was a child, she was quite tall and had an infectious smile.
