The great Hollywood icon, Sir Anthony Hopkins, turned 85 on the last day of the year, and he used this occasion to share a message filled with hope on New Year’s Eve. Besides adding a beam of bright light during this magical time, the legend’s advice is also very useful and can help us get through challenging times by making us see life from a new and refreshing perspective.

On the 31st of December, the Silence of the Lambs star shared a video on his Instagram that started with him wishing everyone a Happy New Year.’’ He then added, ’’This is a message not meant to be heavy, but I hope helpful.’’ Hopkins addressed ’’people struggling’’ in their lives, noting, ’’Be kind to yourself.’’ He went on, saying, ’’Live your life. Be proud of your life.’’

Based on his own previous experience, Hopkins believes that we shouldn’t ignore our struggles, and instead, we have to ask for help whenever we need it. He noted, ’’Wherever you are, get help, don’t be ashamed, be proud of yourself.’’

The actor explained, ’’47 years ago, I was in a desperate situation, in despair, and uh, probably not long to live.’’ However, after working on his issues with professionals, things took a turn for the better. He admitted, ’’I have the best life I can even imagine, and I can’t even take credit for it.’’

Hopkins is also a firm believer that we should always keep negativity at bay. He explained, ’’Stay out of the circle of toxicity with people if they offend you.’’

Speaking to people who are going through depression or receiving harmful behavior from others, the icon noted, ’’Don’t listen to them. Don’t let yourself be put down.’’ He added, ’’Depression is part of being alive, sometimes [as is] anxiety. Life is tough.’’

And this is not the first time the actor has shared a message of hope on his birthday. 2 years ago, he also made a video where he addressed young people with words of wisdom and strength. He noted, ’’Young people, don’t give up. Just keep in there. Keep fighting.’’ He continued, ’’Be bold. Mighty forces will come to your aid. That’s sustained me through my life.’’

Do you agree with Sir Anthony Hopkins’ life philosophy? Do you have any personal rules you stick by to get through tough times?
