’’Mom Is Gone’’ - Cher Says Goodbye to Her Mother Who Died at 96

But at that time, the situation seemed more hopeful as her mom was able to recover: “Sorry I’ve been MIA. Mom’s been sick off & on. She just got out of the hospital,” and added that she’s “getting better.” However, things took a turn for the worse a little while later.

Born in Arkansas in 1926 to a teenage mother, Georgia Holt became famous when she moved to Los Angeles, where she worked as an actress, model, and singer. She appeared both in movie and TV roles, like Watch the Birdie, I Love Lucy, and The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet in the ’50s, The Merv Griffin Show, and The Mike Douglas Show, in 1979 and 1980.
In 2013, with the help of Cher, Holt also released her debut album called Honky Tonk Woman, finally making her dream come true after 80 years. That same year, a documentary produced by Cher, Dear Mom, Love Cher, was released as a Mother’s Day special. The pop star opened up about her close relationship with her mom and talked about the lessons she’s learned from her throughout her life.
Like most mother-daughter relationships, theirs had a few challenges here and there, but it was very harmonious overall. “She never gave me and my sister advice because, truthfully, she knew we’d never take it,” Cher once said about her mother. She added that instead of direct advice, she learned about life by listening to her mom talk about her own mistakes and achievements.
Losing a parent is never easy, regardless of when it happens. We wish the pop superstar strength as she deals with this great loss.
Have you seen any of the movies or TV shows that Georgia starred in? What’s your favorite role of hers?
