11 Times We Missed an Interesting Detail in a Celebrity’s Outfit
Creating masterpieces takes a lot of time and effort, and fashion is no exception. For example, one of Chanel’s dresses took more than a thousand hours to make (and there were 550 silk organza camellias and 450 plastic camellia petals). The gowns celebrities wear for important events are oftentimes just as complicated, and also have their own personal touch hidden in little details.
We at Bright Side decided to take a closer look at celebs’ red carpet outfits and share their curious features that are hard to spot right away.
1. Katy Perry
Katy Perry appeared on the red carpet of the Met Gala 2016 wearing a futuristic Prada gown with many various details, including a Tamagotchi which turned the stylish outfit into a time machine.
2. Blake Lively
Even though Blake Lively was on her own during Met Gala 2018, she still took her family with her, kind of. The clutch the actress is wearing has a sparkly family crest, as well as the initials of herself and her husband Ryan Reynolds, and their kids.
3. Lady Gaga
Lady Gaga has done seemingly everything to surprise her fans. From a dress made of meat to an outfit that consisted of 4 different dresses. While wearing the latter for the 2019 Met Gala, she also had beautiful false lashes which were a totally separate statement: the falsies were made with actual gold.
4. Saoirse Ronan
Saoirse Ronan’s stunning dress she wore for the Golden Globe award ceremony in 2019 has an equally beautiful message behind it. The actress and her stylist wanted to show that in any situation there’s a silver lining, and we should try to find positivity as much as we can.
5. Natalie Portman
Natalie Portman’s dress for the 2020 Oscars made a powerful statement: the cape she wore together with a gorgeous dress had the names of female directors embroidered on it. For example, there were the names of Lulu Wang, Lorene Scafaria, and Greta Gerwig.
6. Tiffany Haddish
Tiffany Haddish’s look for the Oscars in 2018 has a touching backstory. She’s wearing a traditional Eritrean gown as a tribute to her roots and also her late father. “He said one day I would end up here and if I ever ended up at the Oscars to honor my people,” said the actress.
7. Avril Lavigne
Avril Lavigne’s look from the 2022 Grammys has a not-so-hidden, yet subtle reference to her album called “Love Sux.” Hey, self-promotion is a thing.
8. Viola Davis
Viola Davis’ dress appears to have quite severe cutouts, but in reality, the actress is wearing a corset underneath. The effect was achieved by dying some parts of it to match her skin tone. The stylists worked with Viola’s make-up artist to make sure the color matching is on point.
9. H.E.R.
The Oscar-2021 winner wore a dress that had the lyrics to her song “Fight for You” (which brought her the statue) along the collar and cuffs.
10. Joaquin Phoenix
Joaquin Phoenix, who got numerous awards for his role in the movie Joker made a statement about sustainability when he wore the same Stella McCartney tux six times for different ceremonies, including the Oscars, Golden Globes, BAFTA, and others.
11. Gigi Hadid
Gigi Hadid’s take on the theme of technologies and people included quite a well-hidden detail. Her manicure isn’t just standard metallic nails, but something much more expensive: the model has a bunch of crystals underneath each nail. This hidden luxury was estimated to cost about two thousand dollars.
