15 Celebrities Who Mastered Turning the Same Outfit Into a New One to Shine Even Brighter
Celebrities have the ability and finances to be able to change outfits for every red carpet event. But some of them don’t follow the unspoken rule that people shouldn’t wear the same clothes twice in a public setting. Instead, they turn their old outfits into something new and, in turn, shine even brighter.
We at Bright Side have chosen 15 celebrities who broke fashion rules and proved the same outfit can make a splash several times.
1. Princess Diana
As a true fashion icon, Diana was one of the first royals to recycle clothes. She wore this blue Catherine Walker gown for the first time in 1987 during an official visit to Lisbon, Portugal. In 1989, she wore the remade dress to a charity ball.
2. Cate Blanchett
Cate Blanchett is no stranger to recycling her outfits. She first wore this red carpet gown by Esteban Cortázar to the 2015 BFI London Film Festival. In 2020, she re-wore the dress to the 2020 Venice Film Festival.
3. Sharon Stone
It seems that Sharon Stone has a favorite dress, and it’s absolutely stunning! This gold Valentino gown was worn by the actress for the first time in 2012. She wore it to Glamorama at The Orpheum Theatre. Then, in 2017, she re-wore this dress to LA’s “Orange Ball: Rocket to a Cure.”
4. Victoria Beckham
Victoria Beckham always surprises us with a variety of outfits. But this time, she surprised us! The singer and fashion designer was spotted in a white suit and natural makeup at the 2019 GQ Man of the Year Awards. She was a part of a different event in 2020 and wore the same outfit, adding a shirt with ruffles on the front and a black bow.
5. Kate Middleton
The Duchess of Cambridge first wore this Kelly green Catherine Walker coat in April 2014 to the Chelsea Flower Show. She re-wore it again to visit Canberra, Australia in May 2016.
6. Jennifer Lopez
One of the most iconic dresses is Jennifer Lopez’s jungle-green Versace dress. J.Lo wore it to the forty-second Grammy Awards ceremony in 2000. The dress caused a furor and became a highlight in media culture. Nearly 20 years later, the singer repeated this iconic outfit for Versace’s spring/summer 2020 show in Milan.
7. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle also follow this good tradition. They’ve appeared in the same coats in public several times. In 2017, the Duchess of Sussex wore the same coat in a more low-key color to her first Christmas celebration with the royal family.
8. Pippa Middleton
Pippa Middleton gave us the perfect example of how to style clothing in different ways. This is the same dress worn as completely different looks.
9. Vivienne Westwood
Vivienne Westwood is a fashion rebel and an activist that works hard to stop climate change. She certainly doesn’t follow to the rule of not wearing the same outfit twice. Also, she once advised Kate Middleton to re-wear one of her outfits to help the environment.
10. Monica Bellucci
The Italian actress and model first wore the elegant dress to the premiere of her new movie, Spider in the Web in 2019. A year later, Monica re-wore the black gown to the Christian Dior Womenswear spring/summer 2020 show.
11. Prince Charles
We all have our favorite coats, and Prince Charles is no exception. The Prince of Wales has worn the same overcoat since the 1990s.
12. Anna Wintour
Anna Wintour says that clothes should be cherished, re-worn, and passed down to generations. So the editor-in-chief of American Vogue shows this by her own example. She wore the same floral dress a few times, like to a Valentino fashion show and the US Open.
13. Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall
Most brides wear their wedding dress for one day only, but not Camilla. In April 2005, the Duchess of Cornwall wore an elegant white coat and a matching scalloped-edged dress by Robinson Valentine for her wedding ceremony. In June 2005, Camilla wore the same outfit to the official birthday party of Queen Elizabeth II.
14. Kate Middleton
Here she is again! Kate Middleton has adopted Lady Di’s tradition. We often see the Duchess of Cambridge in recycled clothes. In November 2016, Kate changed the color of a dress she wore a few months prior.
15. Cate Blanchett
Once again, Cate Blanchett has re-worn an outfit, as she paired a floral, embellished, and embroidered Alexander McQueen top with a black feather skirt in 2016 and decided to rework the look for the seventy-seventh Venice Film Festival. The actress swapped the skirt out for a pair of sleek black pants.
