15 People Whose Hobby Is Crafting, but Their Work Belongs in a Museum

Perhaps many of us looked at some old item and thought, “What if I tweak it a bit?” Some may even take beautiful fabric and imagine the amazing clothes that could be made from it. The heroes of this article don’t limit themselves to imagination only; they take up scissors and sit at the sewing machine. With their deft hands, men’s suits get transformed into stylish outfits, and dresses and jackets appear from scraps. In other words, these people create unique pieces that no one else will have.
I made a patchwork dress from my old jeans.

I found the dress pattern in a 1957 magazine.
I found a men’s suit in a thrift store and thought I could transform it into a women’s suit with a skirt. Here’s the stylish ensemble I created.

You look like a professional model in that pic. Fun outfit but where to wear it?
The top should be kept long and tucked, possibly even a tie to complete the feminine suited look.
I love the look, but that shirt is unfinished and so it makes the whole outfit look rushed.
This has STYLE girl. I couldn't wear it, even in my skinny days, but you look GREAT IN IT.
The suit is perfect, the shirt is complete trash. .
Would have looked better had you hemmed the cut off shirt.

Your abilities to imagine, visualize and skillfully execute your design are excellent. You have beautiful and impeccable taste! You can take my word for truth, as I am a conceptual designer myself. Now if I only had the physical skills to bring my designs to life as you did.
I love sewing and gifting outfits for little ones.

When my older sister was in Jr. High and High School (more than 55 years ago) she made a lot of outfits like this for the youngest sister in the family. They were very similar to this one and they were SO ADORABLE. I am so jealous of this kind of talent.

Omg, these are great! I was a teenager in the 70s and made a pair of patchwork jeans a la the dress in picture #1.
I cheated and cut the waistband and fly out of one pair leaving it intact--we didn't have a sewing machine that would have sewn through 3-4 layers of folded denim.
The rest of the pieces were random sizes and shapes, which was fun. Fortunately I had lots of faded, heavyweight denim from Dad's overalls and my brothers' Levi's and Wranglers.
Big bells about 30" I think--they were oh-so-cool. And very heavy.
They should go into business, my mother had 4 daughters and sew the most beautiful clothes even my wedding dress
