15 People Whose Hobby Is Crafting, but Their Work Belongs in a Museum

Perhaps many of us looked at some old item and thought, “What if I tweak it a bit?” Some may even take beautiful fabric and imagine the amazing clothes that could be made from it. The heroes of this article don’t limit themselves to imagination only; they take up scissors and sit at the sewing machine. With their deft hands, men’s suits get transformed into stylish outfits, and dresses and jackets appear from scraps. In other words, these people create unique pieces that no one else will have.

I made a patchwork dress from my old jeans.

I love everything about it! The style you chose is timeless and the shoes are absolutely perfect!

The dress of my dreams. I’ve long wanted to knit something like that. Otherwise, I just keep wearing oversized sweaters.

I made this winter corduroy bucket hat in my favorite beige color. It has a fleece lining and tie-up ear flaps.

I’m a fashion student, and here’s the outfit I created.

It certainly looks perfect for you. So much detail too. I like it because it reminds me of that cool CSI chick on one of those shows

I found the dress pattern in a 1957 magazine.

I found a men’s suit in a thrift store and thought I could transform it into a women’s suit with a skirt. Here’s the stylish ensemble I created.

30 hours, and the dress is ready.

I love your dress! Swear you look just like Adele. I had to do a double take.

Or for herself? That is an age and body appropriate beautiful sundress that one could wear to a park, the grocery store, or a date. Not all of us choose to slop into leggings with and an oversized food stained tshirt decorated with applique flowers and cats with Crocs topping off their "I've forgotten how to dress in public" outfits that fill your closet.

If you are going to leave a comment, at least learn the correct spelling of the words that you use. When they are misspelled the whole meaning changes.

Was there a comment here?

How unhappy and hateful does one have to be to make the negative comments you have made on each seamstress's creation? It does not matter if it is to your old crone taste, if you cannot say something nice don't say anything at all. Luckily your commenting with poor grammar and misspelling negates anything that you you say so the people who see your comments will just think "what a shriveled uneducated prude" and go on with their day.

I love my knitted skirt.

This week has been a week of improving my basic sewing skills through making quilt clothing from thrift store quilts. Made this jacket for a friend last night.

I love this dress. When I wear it, I receive tons of compliments.

I love how cute my sweater turned out.

My bridal outfit. I designed and made the corset, skirt, and gloves myself. This dress made my special day even more magical!

Your abilities to imagine, visualize and skillfully execute your design are excellent. You have beautiful and impeccable taste! You can take my word for truth, as I am a conceptual designer myself. Now if I only had the physical skills to bring my designs to life as you did.

I love sewing and gifting outfits for little ones.

When my older sister was in Jr. High and High School (more than 55 years ago) she made a lot of outfits like this for the youngest sister in the family. They were very similar to this one and they were SO ADORABLE. I am so jealous of this kind of talent.

The most comfy wide leg pull on elastic waist pants

I made this button-up blouse with a peplum cut to create the illusion of an hourglass shape and balance out my rectangle body type.

And these people made some stunning clothes out of nothing.

Omg, these are great! I was a teenager in the 70s and made a pair of patchwork jeans a la the dress in picture #1.

I cheated and cut the waistband and fly out of one pair leaving it intact--we didn't have a sewing machine that would have sewn through 3-4 layers of folded denim.

The rest of the pieces were random sizes and shapes, which was fun. Fortunately I had lots of faded, heavyweight denim from Dad's overalls and my brothers' Levi's and Wranglers.

Big bells about 30" I think--they were oh-so-cool. And very heavy.
