7 Types of Shoes to Make Your Legs Look Slimmer

Sometimes choosing a shoe style is a little tricky because there are so many shapes, sizes, and colors that make us think about what we’ll look and feel best in. Finding out what is in fashion at the moment and what type of shoe is best at making you appear slimmer sounds great. Remember that every woman’s legs vary and it is good to look for what suits you best.

Bright Side compiled some tips that can help you look more beautiful when choosing your footwear.

1. Simple shoe with chunky heel

Heels with ankle straps are not very flattering because the strap that is very often placed near your ankle for support, no matter how thin it is, will make this area look divided which always gives the impression of having shorter legs. This is just a visual rule. It’s even more relevant if you are short or if you have short legs. By wearing these types of shoes you will only make your ankles and calves look wider.

On the other hand, chunky heels are much more flattering for women with thicker legs. To get better results and make your figure look more slender, it’s often recommended for you to wear a heel that’s thicker at the base and becomes thinner as it goes down. Of course, this goes without saying, you shouldn’t lose the essence of a thick heel.

2. Stiletto heels

Sometimes, strappy flat shoes will create strange bumps on your feet, especially if you have thick feet and/or legs. These are not recommended if your legs are thick simply because they will bring people’s attention to your legs, as well as to that bulge that forms in every little hole.

You can always change those strappy flat sandals for cool stiletto heels. These are perfect if you are trying to look taller and if you want to make your legs look slimmer. The thinner the heel, the more attractive you will look, but they might also be less comfortable, so you need to find good middle ground.

3. Platform shoes

The strap of the heels, known as “T-Strap shoes,” is shaped like a “T” — hence the name. Unfortunately, this T makes your feet look wider than they really are. Once again, this applies to all types of feet, but if you think you have chubby feet you might want to stay away from these types of shoes.

You could, for example, go for platform wedge-type shoes that fit your legs, as we mentioned earlier. These will be comfortable and look good. Opt for these shoes if your legs are thick, so you will achieve a more flattering result, since, if you choose a wider one, the only thing you will achieve is that it will look a little rough.

4. Peep toes

Most of the time, shoes with square points turn out to be rather unflattering. This is not necessarily a matter of being trendy, but shoe points are meant to make your feet look more slender and shapely. The same goes for your legs. If you have long, slim legs, square points are perfect for you, otherwise, you might want to try something else.

We’re talking, of course, about peep-toes. This is a type of shoe that shows the tip of your toe, but only slightly. These can come in handy if you are short because they’ll make you look taller and like you have longer legs. And as if that wasn’t enough to make these beautiful shoes an option that you should consider, they can also make your foot look smaller than they are.

5. High boots

Ankle boots can be unflattering, depending on the type of legs you have. It’s always good to keep in mind that they will draw people’s attention to your calves which, in turn, can make your ankles appear thicker than they actually are.

On the other hand, long boots are very flattering if you have larger or thicker calves. If the boots have a small detail at the top, it’s even better, so you can draw attention away from your ankles. You just have to find a model that’s comfortable enough.

6. Ballerina flats

The problem with the so-called Roman sandals or strappy flats is that they are designed to draw a lot of attention to your calves thanks to the huge amount of straps and strings they have. This is even more so if they go all the way up the calf. This type of shoe does not flatter women with thick legs because of the cuts the strings make, and they can even become uncomfortable after walking for a while.

Ballerina flats, on the other hand, tend to flatter women with slender legs and are best worn with a short skirt.

7. Shoes in the same color as your socks or stockings

Visually, flat boots will make your legs look shorter, so it is advisable to use them carefully.

Although, on the other hand, using tights that are the color of your shoes is very flattering if you want to make your legs look slimmer. Plus a dark color manages to do that as well.

What do you think of these types of shoes? Which one do you think suits you best?
