Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed, who have been married since 2015, are one of Hollywood’s dream couples, and we are excited to find out that their family of 3 is expanding. The expecting mom and dad each had their own poetic way of sharing the news, and we can’t wait to tell you all about it. We’ll also look back on how this couple decided to start a family in the first place, and this surprising story is far from being traditional.
Nikki shared the news on Instagram by writing ’’2023 celebrating life.’’ She also posted a photo of her holding their 5-year-old daughter while cradling her baby bump, and she gave the photo and the ’’baby cred’’ to her husband, Ian.
The 34-year-old proud mama added, ’’Years of dreaming, manifesting, and praying over this very moment. So much love. What a gift.’’
And even though the actress admits that she’s private and she has ’’very strong boundaries" when it comes to what she shares on social media, “especially when it comes to children,” she nevertheless noted that “some things are too good not to share.”
On his side, the 44-year-old actor shared the same photo he took of his pregnant wife and revealed: “All I’ve ever wanted from the time I was a young boy was to have a big family.”
He then thanked his wife for giving him that gift and wrote, “ROUND TWO, HERE WE GO!!!!!”
The Vampire Diaries actor described his wife as “the most incredible mom” and thanked her again for “working so hard to make dreams come true!!!” He ended his sweet post by asking everyone to send positivity to them and admitted, “The social space can be a strange one, but we can also make it a great one.”
The couple became parents for the first time in July 2017, and they opened up about their journey to parenthood a few months after their daughter was born.
In fact, Nikki was reluctant about becoming a mom. She revealed, “I didn’t know if I wanted kids. I love kids, and I wasn’t sure if I wanted to be a mom...”
However, her husband Ian, who always dreamt of being a father to a large family, admitted that he got rid of her contraceptive pills. He explained, “Unbeknownst to poor Nikki, she didn’t realize that I was gonna go in her purse and take out her birth control and pop them...”
However, Ian further explained what he said by adding that Nikki was also convinced about starting a family. He noted, “We decided that we wanted to have children together, and it was just time.”
And it seems that their first pregnancy experience was a blessing, and the couple was so delighted to build a family together that they decided to continue to bring more babies into this world.
