“Maybe She Thinks I’m Already Too Old,” George and Amal Clooney’s Beautiful Love Story

Love is a feeling that makes us believe anything is possible. It’s almost as if we could fly among a field made of stars, a beautiful dream from which we would never want to wake up. George Timothy Clooney was born in 1961, while Amal Clooney (née Alamuddin) was born 17 years later in 1978. He is an actor and a well-known Hollywood star, and she is a prestigious lawyer. He is American, while she is British and Lebanese. Thus begins the love story of this famous couple who could, and would, do little against Cupid.

It was July 2013, and fate had put George Clooney in the path of Amal Alamuddin, in the always romantic Italy at Lake Como. He remembers seeing her and thinking, “I thought she was beautiful, and I thought she was funny and obviously smart. She probably thought I was old. Then she sent some pictures from when she was here, and we were writing each other, emailing, talking, mostly about what was going on in each other’s lives, and over a period of time it became clear we were more than just friends.”

In October of the same year, while love was growing at a distance, George and Amal were together in London, then spent Christmas in Cabo San Lucas. Then Kenya would be the destination for the pair, who were clearly becoming more than just friends. The actor said in an interview, “I took a picture of her, and she was smiling. I [later] said to my buddy Ben, ’You know, I think I should ask her to marry me.’”

One of Hollywood’s most beloved bachelors, directors, actors, producers, and winner of two Academy Awards was about to give his heart to the love of his life. On April 28, 2014, George Clooney prepared dinner, just some pasta, and asked Amal to take out the lighter to light the candles. But instead, there was an engagement ring with music playing in the background, and then he got down on one knee in front of her.

20 minutes later, she came out of her state of astonishment and said yes. George recalled worrying things were happening too soon. But he felt they were right for each other.

It was in September 2014 that the talented actor, George Clooney, married the successful lawyer, Amal Alamuddin. He was 53 years old, and she was 36. The place could be no other than the magical Venice, but as her parents could not attend, a month later they got married again in the UK. She had to get used to fame and to married life.

But as fortune multiplies, in 2017, they became parents twice over. The Clooney family welcomed twins Alexander and Ella on June 6. “It was wild, everything is subjective until it becomes real. All of a sudden, you say, ’I’m a parent!’” said the famous actor.

Amal, who now has Clooney’s last name, explained how happy she feels next to her husband in an interview with Time magazine, “Marriage has been wonderful. I have in my husband a partner who is incredibly inspiring and supportive, and we have a home full of love and laughter.”

The lawyer continued, “It is a joy beyond anything I could have imagined. I feel very fortunate to have found a great love in my life and to be a mother, that’s how I get my balance.”

More than 7 years have passed since their wedding day, and the Clooney couple is solid and stable, they lead their lives in a very private way. There are no photos of their children at all, even on social media, but every time we see the couple on the red carpet, a flash of love overshadows the paparazzi’s cameras. Then we understand that for Cupid, age is nothing but a number.
