If money was given for every good deed, then the heroes of this article would definitely become rich. And it’s wonderful that people not only remember moments like this, but also share them online.

  • When I was out shopping for college supplies on my own, a middle-aged woman came up to me and handed me $30, even after I refused. She said she hopes someone does the same for her son one day and wished me luck. It really meant a lot and definitely made my day. I hope I can do the same for someone else one day. © strangeWolf17 / Reddit
  • At the shop exit, I walked up to the claw machine. I throw a few coins, look for a soft victim in the machine, and a young woman with a kid about 5 years old comes up behind me. I find what I want to pull out, and that’s a red bird from Angry Birds that I collect.
Well, I throw my claw at it, it goes down, the child’s eyes are burning. The claw grabs my bird and some other toy and lifts them up. The moment of truth... Both fall into the chute.
I take them out and hold out the second toy to the kid. I walk away to a fountain of emotions in the background, and I’m in a great mood for the day. © *******tick / Pikabu
  • Today I jumped into the bus, we’re on our way, and I realize I don’t have any cash. The driver doesn’t accept cashless. I looked around the salon, maybe someone I know is there, I was about to ask someone to pay, and I would transfer them the money online.
And then I was saved by a girl sitting right next to the entrance. I wanted to transfer money to her, but she refused. © pupupuu / Pikabu
  • I’m walking home, a girl is walking in front of me. Long legs, pencil skirt, high heels clinking on the ground. And suddenly she freaks out, “I’m sick of all of you! I’m fed up!” She falls to the ground and sobs.
I came up to her, and she said, “I just want a simple ice cream.” So, I ran to the nearest shop, bought some for me and her, silently came over, sat down and gave it to her. So, we were sitting and eating ice cream. © Overheard / Ideer
  • One time I was sitting in the airport, just waiting at the gate. Some guy in a sharp suit taps me as he’s walking past and says, “Hey, are you on this next flight?” To which I reluctantly replied, “Yes...” And he goes, “Here, use this.”
And he hands me a voucher for a free in-flight drink, and then just keeps on walking. © BurtMaclinYouSOB / Reddit
  • I’m sitting in the subway train, waiting for it to depart, and a man of about 70–80 years old is sitting next to me. And then his phone rings. The reception is bad, so he goes out of the carriage for better connection. And then the doors close, and he still has his stuff in the carriage!
I got off at the next station and got into the train that was going back to the same station and gave him his stuff back. He wanted to give me money, but I refused. © Overheard / Ideer
  • When I was in Italy with my family, the owner of the hotel we were staying at asked if I wanted ice cream. I said sure because I just thought he had some leftover but no. This 70-something-year-old man went to make me ice cream at 12 o’clock at night. I almost cried. © yora_kloun / Reddit
  • A friend and I were walking round this tourist spot, and we stopped to have a sit down in this café. I only wanted some water and my friend had a cup of tea. They put a little biscuit on his saucer.
Out of the blue, this toddler runs past our table and plonks a biscuit next to me. I hear his mom upbraid him, saying, “What did you do that for? That was my biscuit!” He replied, “But he didn’t have a biscuit!” © lechatcestmoi / Reddit
  • One day my (34-year-old woman) shopping bag broke and all my stuff fell out. A trio of teenagers (1 girl and 2 boys) stopped and helped me pick everything up, then they reorganized their own shopping to free up one of their bags which they gave to me to repack my stuff. © M_Ad / Reddit
  • A guy stepped in front of me at the shop and tossed a piece of paper and kind of grumbled, “I won’t use this, it’ll work for you.” The cashier looks and shows me it’s a $40 store credit for the exact prescription dog food I was buying. Nicest rude guy ever. © Slade_Riprock / Reddit
  • I’m walking in a hypermarket, picking out women’s shaving tools. Nearby stands a man all sweaty, with eyes like of a hunted animal. And then he says with a pleading voice, “Please, help me!” It turned out his wife had written him a list.
I look at the paper, and it says, “Acne gel, cream that doesn’t dry the skin, deodorant with a nice smell.” That’s a quest for a man. I helped him. He thanked me 15 times. © Overheard / Ideer
  • Lost my wallet at a party. Monday just gone. Tuesday afternoon, the bloke who found it knocked on my door and gave it me back. Hero.
I got the wallet as an 18th birthday present. I’m 38. Had that wallet for 20 years without losing it until Monday night. Ì will definitely pay that human kindness forward someday. © lancecouar / Reddit
  • I was travelling in a taxi, and the driver received a call from his little daughter, who had a birthday. She asked him when he was coming and asked him not to forget to buy a cake. He hung up and squeezed the steering wheel so hard that I asked him to stop near a supermarket.
I bought a cake, balloons and flowers. I gave him all that with the money and told him to go home to his family. © Tebion
  • When I was a teenager, we were very poor. One day we were walking home from school with some girls. Everyone had bought an ice cream except me. We’re walking, chatting.
Suddenly, a voice said, “Hey, why don’t you have an ice cream?” I see a guy on the balcony above. I said, “I don’t have any money.” He was like, “Wait.”
He went inside the flat, then came out again and threw me an ice cream wrapped in a bag. It’s been 35 years, and I still remember that man. © 2023openway
  • Mom went for a walk with the dog at 11 o’clock at night. As she passed the entranceway, she heard a baby crying. She thought the worst because the sound was coming from a dumpster.
The dog pulled that way, and Mom ducked into the container. There’s a box, and in the box... 3 white baby goats. Goats!
With the words, “I couldn’t leave them,” my 52-year-old mother entered the flat. Now we’re fostering goats. © Overheard / Ideer
  • I was traveling by a bus in the evening. And then a child’s loud voice says, “Stop at the next one!” The driver stops, a boy with a huge briefcase holds out money, and the driver says to him, “Go on, I won’t take it!”
And the boy gets confused and says, “Actually, I’m already 7 years old!” And he holds out the money again! All passengers say together, “Go, go, boy!” © Overheard / Ideer
  • I was sitting with my grandmother in a café and I saw her putting sachets of sugar in her bag. I’ve often watched her doing this before, but never asked her why, but here I got curious...
It turns out that she keeps them in case a diabetic has a sugar crash. She’s saved more than one person that way! Now I always carry a sachet of sugar with me too. © Overheard / Ideer

And here are stories about people who wanted to be kind, but life had other plans.
