Alexis Ohanian Explains Why He’s “Convinced” Wife Serena Williams Is Pregnant With a GIRL

This joyful news marks their second child together, as they are already proud parents to their 5-year-old daughter, Olympia. And during a recent interview, Ohanian excitedly shared some details about their upcoming addition.

When asked about the gender reveal, Ohanian confessed that at the moment, they don’t know. The couple has decided not to find out themselves, keeping the baby’s gender a surprise. Nevertheless, he confidently expressed that he relies on his intuition on this matter, stating, “I’m convinced I’m gonna be a girl dad. So even if we have, you know, 50 more kids, they’re all going to be girls.”

Revealing the good news to an enthusiastic future big sister

Regardless of the baby’s gender, Olympia, the soon-to-be big sister, appears to be eagerly anticipating her new role. Serena Williams, age 41, shared a heartwarming video on Instagram capturing the special moment when she and Ohanian informed their daughter about the pregnancy.

In the video, Williams mentioned, “Olympia does not know right now that I am pregnant, so the big reveal will be at the Met, and then before we leave, I’ll tell Olympia.” The footage briefly shows Williams and Olympia embracing on a couch while Ohanian watches with a smile.

Williams explained, “The reason I haven’t told her is because she can’t keep a secret,” emphasizing her daughter’s enthusiastic nature. Unfortunately, the clip concluded before Williams had the chance to disclose the news to her little one. Additionally, the video showcased behind-the-scenes glimpses of Williams’ preparations for the Met Gala.

The couple chose the Met Gala to reveal the big news to their fans.

Prior to gracing the red carpet at the Met Gala in an elegant black ensemble, Williams shared a series of photos on Instagram featuring herself and Ohanian, subtly revealing her baby bump beneath her attire. Expressing her excitement, the sports icon captioned the photos: “Was so excited when Anna Wintour invited the 3 of us to the Met Gala.”

The sports icon has decided to put her expanding family first.

Last year, in a first-person essay, Williams delved into her personal journey of transitioning away from tennis and her aspirations of expanding her family.

She candidly expressed that at the start of her career, the thought of having children never crossed her mind. “There were times when I’ve wondered if I should ever bring kids into this world, with all its problems. I was never that confident or comfortable around babies or children, and I figured that if I ever did have a baby, I would have people taking care of it 24/7,” she elaborated.

In the same essay, she disclosed that Olympia’s wish was to be a big sister, and the 5-year-old “doesn’t want anything to do with a boy!”

Even at the peak of her career, Williams has always been a dedicated mother.

Furthermore, Williams shared that when she was recovering from a hamstring injury, she had “the privilege” of picking up her daughter from school 4 or 5 days a week. Seeing her little one’s face light up every time she spotted her waiting outside the building was always a cherished moment for the sports star. “The fact is that nothing is a sacrifice for me when it comes to Olympia,” shared the 4-time Olympic gold medalist.

Williams emphasized that while she receives a tremendous amount of support, she is also an extremely involved and dedicated mother to the future big sister, Olympia. In fact, over the course of 5 years, Olympia has only been away from her tennis star mom for a single 24-hour period.
