First-Ever 71-Year-Old “Golden Bachelor” Is Revealed and People Want to Know Only One Thing

After over two decades of witnessing young love on hit series The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, we finally get to see an older person have a second chance at love with someone to share the sunset of their life. 71-year-old Gerry Turner will kick off the groundbreaking series The Golden Bachelor. And while there’s certainly some excitement buzzing, most people have one important question about the show they must know.

Meet Gerry Turner and his hopeful heart.

Gerry Turner is a 71-year-old retired restaurateur and a hopeless romantic. He was selected to become ABC’s first-ever The Golden Bachelor and give himself a second shot at love. Gerry believes that “it’s never too late to fall in love again,” and we wholeheartedly agree.

Turner was previously married to the love of his life and high school sweetheart Toni. They’ve been together from 1974 to 2017, when Toni passed away. Gerry believes that his late soulmate is fully supportive of his decision to finally move on, “We always told each other when one of us goes, we want the other to be happy. She’s up there rooting [for me]. She’s saying, ’Yeah, Gerry. Do this.’”

Gerry and Toni also shared two daughters, and he said that they were the ones to suggest he sign up for the show. Overall, Turner looks like a total catch who’s looking for “a partner who is high energy... Someone who maybe plays pickleball; someone who maybe plays golf.”
