"Performance issues" aren't always in a file. Just because someone has "perfect reviews" doesn't mean they aren't failing now. Maybe she stopped working the second she got pregnant? Your boss saw "issues," and you, from your little HR bubble, decided you knew better than the person actually managing her.

Well, can you work with that kind of person from now on? If he is capable doing this to others then one day he will do something against you, so it was a right decision.
