Jamie Lee Curtis Pays Tribute to Daughter Ruby on a Special Occasion
Jamie Lee is celebrating her daughter Ruby on International Trans Day of Visibility. The 64-year-old actress shared on Instagram a heartfelt message which all mothers, without exception, can relate to. Beyond being a great actress, we admire Curtis for the amazing human she is, and for always spreading positivity and love around her.
The doting mom’s words gave us goosebumps.
The Everything Everywhere All at Once actress posted a sweet pic of herself sharing a laugh with her 27-year-old daughter Ruby as they posed outside. She also added a touching caption for her 5.3 million fans and followers.
Jamie Lee started by writing ’’Love is love. A mother’s love knows no judgment.’’ She added ’’As a mother, I stand in total solidarity with my children as they move forward in the universe as their authentic selves with their own minds and bodies and ideas.’’ Before concluding, ’’On this trans visibility day my daughter and I are visible.’’
Ruby came out as transgender to her parents at 24.
Ruby is Jamie Lee Curtis’ and husband Christopher Guest’s second and youngest daughter. She married her partner Kynthia in May 2022.
During a previous interview with her mom, Ruby opened up about the experience of coming out to her parents back in 2020. She admitted, ’’It was scary — just the sheer fact of telling them something about me they didn’t know.’’ And then added, ’’It was intimidating — but I wasn’t worried. They had been so accepting of me my entire life.’’
She embraced her daughter with open arms.
During a mother-daughter joint interview, the Oscar-winning actress noted that Ruby had all her love and support, but also opened up about having made some errors along the way. Curtis confessed, ’’It’s speaking a new language.’’
She added, ’’I am new at it. I am not someone who is pretending to know much about it. And I’m going to blow it. I’m going to make mistakes. I would like to try to avoid making big mistakes.’’
Curtis concluded by noting that sharing Ruby’s journey with the world is important because it can help others. She said, ’’If one person reads this, sees a picture of Ruby and me and says, ‘I feel free to say this is who I am,’ then it’s worth it.’’
